It was Ishant Sharma who called Sammy ‘Kalu’, revealed from old post
Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy recently alleged that he was called ‘Kalu’ while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sammy had said that he was a victim of racist remarks.
Sammy had said this without naming, ‘My teammates in IPL used to call me by this name and laugh. I thought it would be a joke to create an atmosphere of laughter and joy in the team.
Darren Sammy’s claims can be confirmed through a viral post on Ishant Sharma’s social media. This post of Ishant Sharma is from the year 2014.
In the caption of this post, Ishant Sharma used the word ‘Kallu’ for Darren Sammy. Ishant Sharma wrote, ‘I, Bhuvi, Kallu and Gun Sunrisers.’ In this picture, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sammy and Dale Steyn of South Africa are in the frame with Ishant Sharma.
Apart from this, a tweet of Sammy is going viral in the year in which he is using the word Dark Kalu to wish VVS Laxman a birthday. Sammy wrote, ‘Happy Birthday @ VVSLaxman281, God bless you. Oh, remember, Dark Kalu.

Sammy said, “I remember when I was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, then I was being called the same word which is derogatory.”
Darren Sammy had earlier said that when I used to play for Sunrisers in IPL, he used to call me and (Tisara) Perera by this name. I used to think it meant a strong person.
