Geordie Shore's Aaron Chalmers on 'struggle' of being a new dad in lockdown
Aaron Chalmers has opened up about what it’s like to become a dad during lockdown.
The Geordie Shore star, 33, welcomed son Romeo in April last year, and his partner Talia Oatway is due to give birth to their second child this May.
Aaron admits he’s struggled with the stress that comes with looking after a newborn – especially during a pandemic.
And no matter how many times you’re warned of sleepless nights, Aaron admits they’re what has “destroyed” him.
The former reality TV star says not being able to rely on the support network of family and friends because of Covid restrictions has made parenthood all the more challenging.
“It’s definitely been a tough year, with everything that’s going on with Covid and lockdowns,” he explained.
“Since Romeo was born I’ve been super busy doing things I’ve never done before like changing nappies and doing night feeds and everything else that comes with a newborn.”
Aaron admitted that “nothing prepares you” for how much of a different lifestyle a parent leads to that of a bachelor.
“I’ve been a lot more tired and stressed, my mind has been working overtime and it’s been a lot to get my head around,” he added.
With partner Talia due to give birth again in May, this year is set to be even busier for doting dad.
Though Romeo was their first child together, Talia is already a proud mum daughter Siennah from a previous relationship – meaning that she knows her way around diapers and endless crying.
He added: “Obviously last year was tough for everyone but having Romeo was amazing and we’re buzzing for another baby Chalmers to arrive soon.
“We’re still in lockdown and nobody knows when it is going to end, but you would hope that things will start to ease up soon.”
Aaron is an ambassador for Neutral Strains.
