Some recipients of the second stimulus check who do not receive it must request a “payment fingerprint”; we explain how | The State
Some people eligible for the second stimulus check who do not receive it, will have to complete the process known as “Payment Trace” in order to get the money.
The procedure applies to Americans who have entered their data in the service “Get My Payment” on the website of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the system tells them that their payment was sent, but they still don’t receive it.
“Get My Payment” or “Get My Payment” is a tool that shows the user if the agency issued the payment and if it was deposited to the bank account or sent by mail.
Specifically, the IRS advised that individuals must opt for a “Payment Trail” in the following cases:
1. If five days have passed since the date of direct deposit in Get My Payment and the bank tells the recipient that it has not received the transfer.
2. If the system shows that four weeks have passed since the check was mailed and you have not received it.
3. If the system shows that six weeks have passed since the check was mailed and you had provided a forwarding mailing address to your local post office.
4. If the system shows that it has been nine weeks since the check was mailed and your address is a foreign one.
A fifth group of beneficiaries who must complete the procedure
Another scenario in which the person is required to request a “Payment Trace” is when the beneficiary receives a letter from the IRS confirming that the payment was sent, but the money never arrived.
The Internal Revenue Service sends the recipients of the “Economic Impact Payments” a letter or notification, approximately 15 days after having processed the stimulus check.
Notice 1444 confirms that the agency sent the money and offers options for reporting any problems. If you receive this letter, but not the payment, you have the right to request a “Payment Tracking”. Try to keep the document in your files so that you can include it in the claim.
To request the “Payment Trace,” you can call the IRS at 800-919-9835, or send an email or fax that includes Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
The rest must request payment as a tax credit
The rest of the beneficiaries to whom the payment of the IRS does not arrive in the next weeks and the previous conditions do not apply will have to request the funds through a “Recovery Refund Credit”.
Here we give you the guides for you to complete the process as part of your next tax return.
