Kimberly Wyatt hits out at complaints about The Pussycat Dolls' raunchy costumes
Kimberly Wyatt has hit out to defend her raunchy performances with the Pussycat Dolls.
The 38-year-old is a singer and dancer with the chart topping band – who are well known for their saucy routines and sizzling dance moves.
In 2019, the band – which also consists of Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger and Jessica Sutta – sparked fury with an X-Rated performance on The X Factor : Celebrity.
The ladies took to the stage in revealing outfits and showcased dance moves that were apparently too sexy for some to handle – with the performance during a family show provoking over 500 complaints to Ofcom.
Hitting back at the complaints, Kimberly told The Sun: “It makes me sad people are so hung up on costumes.
“Pussycat Dolls stand for being empowered females owning their space and being there for each other.”
The cast of Gogglebox were among those who felt outraged by the Pussycat Dolls display on The X Factor: Celebrity.
At the time, Sophie gasped at the sight of the near see-through costumes worn by Kimberly, Nicole, et al: “She’s wearing one giant tight and a bit of gaffa tape!”
She added: “I’ve seen more of their beavers than I have of my own! Bloody disgusting!”
Elder Gogglebox star Jenny joked at the time: “That’s how high my tights go up – under my titty. Don’t look like that though.”
While fellow older star Mary was also stunned by the performance, saying: “It’s all six innit? Sex, sex, sex!”
Meanwhile, the Pussycat Dolls return to music has been derailed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The controversial performance on The X Factor had been the first time they’d performed together as a group in a decade.
It was planned to be the springboard for a fresh assault on the charts – with a major tour planned for 2020.
However, plans to perform in The Unfinished Business Tour were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic – with dates initially moving from April 2020 to October 2020 and have yet to be rescheduled again.
