Women’s Day: In Kerala, not only CM security, women will also take care of railway operations and police stations

From the management of police stations to the entire train operations on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the women of Kerala are ready to write a new chapter in women’s empowerment. DGP Loknath Behera of Kerala has issued a directive to all district police chiefs to hand over the duties of Station House Officer (SHO) to women policemen on Women’s Day on March 8.

A Kerala Police directive said, the maximum number of police stations will be managed by women SHOs. Without women SHOs, senior civil police officers will not be on duty in police stations. They will interact with the public and investigate complaints received.

Women commandos will handle CM’s security

On Women’s Day, women commandos will be on duty in Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s vehicle escort. Women police guards will be assigned to Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister in North Block.

Women will operate the train

Kerala Women and Child Development Minister KK Selja said that for the first time, a train will be run entirely by women on International Women’s Day. Shailaja said, ‘The Venad Express, which will leave Ernakulam at 10.15 am on March 8, will be run by women.

The loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, pointsman, gatekeeper and trackwoman will all be women. The women will also manage the ticket booking office, information center, signal, train and wagon. Only women officers will be in charge of the Security Railway Protection Force.

The minister said that it is a matter of great pride for the state. The women will also take charge of Venad Express 16302 from Thiruvananthapuram to Venad and Shoran from Ernakulam. The railway will also arrange for a reception for the female employees of the train leaving from Ernakulam South Station at 10.15 am.
