Hyderabad Techie Murder: Man Breaks Into Ex-Wife’s Home, Stabs Her To Death After Divorce

A man in his 30s allegedly broke into his former wife’s residence in Hyderabad and stabbed her to death, police said. The woman, a 29-year-old IT professional, had remarried last year.

Background

  • The couple married in 2022 and later lived together in Canada, where the man worked in an IT firm.
  • After disputes, the woman returned to India and filed a domestic violence case against him in Maharashtra.
  • They divorced in 2024, and she remarried in April 2025.
  • Because of the case, a lookout circular was issued and his passport was suspended, preventing him from returning to Canada.

Police said the accused blamed the woman for his family’s suffering and even held her responsible for his mother’s death due to alleged mental stress.

Planning The Attack

Investigators said the man tracked her address through social media and came to Hyderabad two months ago, staying in a hostel while surveying the apartment.

He later arrived at the house carrying:

  • Two knives
  • A drilling machine
  • A can containing five litres of petrol

The Murder

  • He forced his way into the flat and locked the room from inside.
  • He repeatedly stabbed the woman in the head, killing her instantly.
  • Family members alerted police.

After the attack, he poured petrol in the room and locked himself in the toilet, threatening to set the house on fire before officers persuaded him to surrender.

CCTV footage showed him walking through the apartment corridor carrying a bag before the incident.

Other Details

The woman’s second husband told police she was three months pregnant, though this had not been officially confirmed pending post-mortem results.
