Delhi Police Busts Fake Medicine Factory In Bihar, 9 Arrested
Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force has uncovered a counterfeit medicine manufacturing unit in Bihar’s Gaya district and arrested nine people in connection with the interstate drug racket, officials said on Friday.
Illegal Factory Busted In Gaya
Police identified Arun (59) as the key suspect running the fake medicine unit without qualified chemists or licences. The unit was producing large quantities of spurious medicines and tramadol-based tablets, the police said.
Investigators seized:
- About 1.19 lakh fake zinc tablets
- Over 42,000 fake azithromycin tablets
- 27 kg of paracetamol powder
- 444 fake ampoules of Dilona Aqua
- Heavy machinery for tablet production
Police said Arun was traced and arrested after questioning another accused, identified as Tanishq, who was apprehended last week.
Racket Details And Impact
According to police, the tramadol powder processed at the factory, once turned into tablets, would fetch more than ₹5 crore in the international market. These tablets were sold through bogus medical fronts at inflated prices, endangering public health, officials said.
The fake tablets were also reported to be pushed into the market as painkillers and sometimes used as substitutes for harder drugs such as heroin, police added.
This is the second fake medicine production unit uncovered by Delhi Police in Bihar within a week, part of a wider crackdown on interstate counterfeit drug syndicates.
Probe Continues
The police said further investigation is underway to trace more members of the drug network operating across states
