Thane College Student Dies by Suicide After Being Beaten Over Hindi-Marathi Language Row
Father says his son was attacked on a train over a language argument, and the trauma pushed him to take his own life
A college student, Arnav Khaire, from Kalyan East (Thane), died by suicide following what his father describes as a brutal assault on a train. The attack reportedly stemmed from a heated Hindi–Marathi language argument.
Arnav used a local train every day to reach his college in Mulund. According to his father, Jitendra Khaire, Arnav was confronted by a group of around five people during one of these commutes. The confrontation escalated into violence, and Arnav was badly beaten.
His father believes the physical assault caused severe mental stress, which eventually led Arnav to end his life. The police have registered a case and are currently searching for the accused.
