On Saturday, October 18, 2025, a massive fire broke out at the Brahmaputra Apartments, a multi-storey residential complex located on Dr Bishambhar Das Marg in Delhi. The building houses several Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament (MPs).
The fire department received a call at 1:20 PM, and six fire engines were dispatched to the scene. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
Firefighting Efforts
According to the Delhi Fire Service, 14 fire tenders were deployed to the site due to the building’s height and complexity. The fire was brought under control, with damage primarily on the stilt floor and external damage to upper floors.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saket Gokhale raised an alarm on social media about the delayed response of fire tenders. A distressed resident reported that his wife and children sustained burn injuries and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Building Details
The Brahmaputra Apartments were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020 and are located approximately 200 meters from the Parliament. The building houses several Rajya Sabha MPs and is situated in a high-security area.
