Rock Band Aerosmith Announces Retirement From Touring: “A Final Thank You To The Best Fans On Planet Earth”
“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who was excited to hit the road with us one last time,” the statement said.
After thrilling music fans for over fifty years, the legendary rock band Aerosmith is retiring from touring. On Friday, they announced via Instagram that they are concluding their “Peace Out: The Farewell” tour earlier than planned due to frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal injury, which has impaired his ability to sing as he once did. The tour was initially scheduled to run until 2025. In their message, the band reflected on their journey: “It all started in 1970 with a spark of inspiration that became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark ignited and has been blazing for over five decades. Some of you have been with us from the start, and all of you are why we made rock ‘n’ roll history.”
Expressing deep gratitude to their fans for including them in the “soundtrack of your lives,” Aerosmith acknowledged their efforts to deliver their best performances over the years. Despite their efforts, the band noted that Steven Tyler’s voice—described as “an instrument like no other”—is no longer what it used to be.
Tyler, who has been working tirelessly with top medical professionals to recover his voice, has faced challenges despite their best efforts. “Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. As a band of brothers, we have made the heartbreaking but necessary decision to retire from the touring stage,” the band said in their statement.
The band expressed immense gratitude to their fans, crew, team, and everyone who supported their historic tours. “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was excited to join us one last time. A final thank you to you—the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true,” they added.
Fans with purchased tickets will receive refunds, the band confirmed. Alongside Tyler, the band consists of Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, Joe Perry, and Brad Whitford. Aerosmith, known for hits like “Sweet Emotion,” “Love In An Elevator,” “Cryin’,” and “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” began their tour in 2023 but had to pause in September after Tyler suffered a vocal cord injury during a New York concert. The injury, a fractured larynx, proved more severe than initially thought, leading to extended time off from touring as advised by doctors.
