Jr NTR and Ram Charan’s RRR has now been postponed indefinitely due to a spike in Covid-19 cases. The film was supposed to release on January 7, 2022.
Jr NTR and Ram Charan’s RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, has been postponed yet again. The film was supposed to hit the theatres on January 7, 2022. Due to a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases, RRR has now been pushed to a later date. The official announcement was made today, January 1. Cinema halls in New Delhi have been shut due to rising cases. Tamil Nadu has announced 50 per cent occupancy in theatres.
Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR was slated for a grand release on January 7, 2022. The RRR team, including SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR and Ram Charan, were promoting the film in multiple languages. Due to the lockdown restrictions, the makers have decided to postpone the film’s release.
The makers of RRR announced the same with a special note. Their post read, “Keeping the best interests of all the parties involved in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love. #RRRPostponed #RRRMovie (sic).”

Their statement read, ” In spite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back The Glory of Indian Cinema, and at the right time, WE WILL (sic).”
Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR is a fictional tale of Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Raju, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The film, produced by DVV Danayya, made on a huge budget of Rs 450 crore.
Apart from Jr NTR and Ram Charan, RRR also features Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Olivia Morris, Shriya Saran and Samuthirakani in supporting roles. The film has music composed by MM Keeravani.
