Alex Rodriguez ‘trying to accept the harsh truth’ about Jennifer Lopez reconciling with Ben Affleck

Alex Rodriguez is ‘struggling to accept’ how quickly Jennifer Lopez moved on with Ben Affleck.

The former professional baseball is reportedly still reeling from their split, which was announced last month, and is ‘sore’ about being dumped by the 51-year-old songstress and seeing her reconcile with her former flame, sources say.

‘Alex is still very sore and in a world of pain,’ a source tells UsWeekly this week.

‘It’s the first time anyone can remember him being dumped like this, at least publicly. Seeing her running straight back to Ben’s arms is a real kick in the teeth,’ the insider adds.

The MLB icon is still hoping for a reconciliation but is trying to accept the ‘harsh truth’.

‘It’s a tough pill to swallow but that’s his new reality.’ the source adds.

A-Rod, 45, and J.Lo were together for four years and engaged for two of them.

In mid-April they released a statement, after weeks of rumors, to say they were ending their engagement. 

Later the same month it was being reported that Lopez and Affleck were spending time together in Los Angeles.

They also took a trip together earlier this month to Big Sky, Montana.

Meanwhile, Lopez has reportedly flown back to LA to spend more time with on-again beau Affleck, 48, as the former supercouple are ‘committed’ to making things work. 

Earlier this month, DailyMail.com obtained exclusive pictures of the pair, snapped together for the first time 17 years after their split, during a romantic getaway to Montana. 

On Thursday, a source told PEOPLE that Lopez had returned to LA to spend more time with Affleck reuniting once again earlier this week.

‘Jennifer was just in Los Angeles for a couple of days,’ a source told the publication. ‘She spent time with Ben. They have kept in touch every day since their Montana trip.’

The source went on to claim the pair are navigating a long-distance relationship, saying: ‘It’s a tricky situation since they live so far from each other, but they both seem committed to making things work.’

The Waiting For Tonight singer is said to be happy about the reunion, with the source adding: ‘Jennifer is doing well. She seems very happy and excited about her future.’

The former celebrity couple were engaged in 2002 but postponed their 2003 wedding and officially split in 2004. 

According to TMZ, the actor reached out to J-Lo via email while she was in the Dominican Republic earlier this year, with the pair continuing communications over the coming month. 

The publication claims Ben penned an email to Jen about ‘how beautiful she looked’ while filming the movie, after pictures emerged of her shooting wedding scenes with her co-star Josh Duhamel. 

He is also reported to have said he wished he could have been in the Dominican Republic too, but was filming The Tender Bar in Boston with George Clooney. The pair are said to have continued communicating until Jennifer wrapped up filming in late April. 

The publication claim Ben wrote in one of him emails about being able to ‘own J-Lo’s heart’ with his pen after she gushed about his writing. 

There is no suggestion the pair were romantically linked at this time. Lopez was still engaged Rodriguez, 45. 

Last month they announced they had split, with a joint statement.

‘We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.’ 

Lopez is mom to 13-year-old twins Emme and Max and Rodriguez has daughters, Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12.

Meanwhile, Affleck split from girlfriend Ana de Armas, 33, earlier this year after one year of dating.
