Javier Rosario, an FDNY Emergency Medical Technician (EMS), was arrested for allegedly looting the apartment of his dying landlord, stealing about $ 33,000 worth of items, then helping prepare him for transport to the hospital.
According to authorities, Rosario (29) took action to help fellow paramedics who responded when the elderly owner suffered a medical episode on January 5 inside the apartment in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
But then, while the other EMTs were taking the owner to the hospital, Rosario allegedly ransacked the apartment and stole around $ 33,000 in laptops, jewelry, money and other items. The landlord died in hospital, police said.
Rosario was arrested Thursday night, after the old man’s widow found a video showing him in the apartment. He was charged with theft and criminal possession of someone else’s property, authorities said.
The FDNY said that an investigation is underway and that Rosario has worked in the department for two years, assigned in Brooklyn, he noted. New York Post.
