A violent group of very young suspects, some described by victims as “children,” are attacking motorists in several states, New Jersey police alerted.
All incidents in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania they are related to the same group.
Authorities in Carneys Point, NJ, pursued two stolen cars in the municipality Tuesday, one from Delaware and one from Penns Grove, NJ, police said in a public safety alert.
The suspects were seen driving “extremely” aggressively and recklessly while eluding the police. Later Tuesday, a group of unidentified armed suspects stole a vehicle in Wilmington, Delaware before driving to Carneys Point, where tried to victimize another driver, said the police.
“They used a gun to threaten the victims and fled when the victim screamed, ”police said in a statement. Car assailants are believed to range in age from teens to young adults, all African American.
“Some victims have described them as ‘children,'” the statement continued. “Their activity is at random times during the day and night, and they have developed in residential neighborhoods and commercial areas.”
There have been no arrests, police work on Tuesday was suspended for security reasons, Carneys Point police admitted. “We have had 12 chases with this team since September,” Lieutenant Dale VanNamee told the outlet. NJ.com
“Their modus operandi is to pull the door handles and see which vehicles are open and have the keys in or put a gun to the victim’s face and demand the vehicle ”, described the alert.
