Joel Dommett reflects on hilarious appearance at age 17 in Casualty throwback
Comedian Joel Dommett has shared a hilarious throwback to his brief appearance in Casualty when he was just a teenager.
The 35-year-old comedian, who is currently hosting ITV’s The Masked Singer, saw the funny side as he unveiled the incredible clip on social media.
In the footage, Joel shared with his 782,000 Instagram followers, the young-looking star sits in the back of an ambulance in a dramatic scene.
Joel then talks to the paramedic about passing his driving test just that morning as he sits by his dad’s side while being rushed to hospital.
“My dad he bought me the car and now I’ve killed him,” Joel declares during the tense moment.
The comedian told fans that the clip was aired in 2002 when Joel was just 17 years old and part of a Bristol drama group.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the incredible throwback and rushed to share their thoughts in the stand-up comedian’s comment section.
“OH MY GOD YOU LOOK ABOUT 10 THAT’S AMAZING,” joked one fan.
“Can’t believe you never ended up in Hollywood,” added another.
A third added: “Hello is that BAFTA? Yup shut down the voting for best acting performance we have a winner.”
A few years ago, Joel actually reflected on being cast in the dramatic medical series.
Speaking on The Danny Baker Show in 2017, Joel revealed that he had a sneaky trick to make his acting look convincing.
“Its a very emotional part. You know you’re dad’s dying, you’ve crashed your car, the insurance premium is going to go up. There’s so much going on,” he told the presenters.
“I remember… if you can cry that makes you an actor, and I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t cry.
Joel added: “So what I would do, I knew if you yawn your eyes water over a little bit… I swear to God, before every scene I yawned.”
Joel will return to ITV television screens this evening for the next instalment of the latest Masked Singer episode.
Ahead of his latest gig, Joel also unveiled a teaser on Instagram for tonight’s show.
