Piers Morgan tears into ‘smirking, cocky’ Matt Hancock in blistering attack

Piers Morgan has made a fresh attack on the Health Secretary, branding him “cocky” and “smirking.”
Good Morning Britain host Piers has made no secret of his opinions on the government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, most of his ire directed at Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
This comes after Piers made repeated claims that the government is “boycotting” GMB to avoid his brand of fiery interviewing.
Sharing a screengrab of Hancock’s appearance on BBC Breakfast this morning, Piers penned: “Been watching Health Secretary @MattHancock smirk, sneer & gurn his way through interviews today.
“What the hell has he got to be so smug about? His handling of this pandemic has been a total fiasco.
“Journalists should be wiping that smirk off his cocky face. Roast him!”
Hancock’s BBC appearance saw him defend the Test & Trace app as the number of people who’ve downloaded it has risen.
Host Charlie Stayt took him to task over how well it worked.
Piers has used Twitter and his GMB platform to air his views throughout the pandemic.
Earlier this month, he branded Hancock an “absolute disgrace” after he refused to appear on the show.
Piers tweeted: “UPDATE: As UK coronavirus cases & deaths spike again, we asked No10 if they would put any ministers up for interview on @GMB to inform our viewers about the worrying situation. For the 134th consecutive day, they declined.”
Hancock appeared on GMB back in March in an interview that saw Ofcom swamped with complaints.
He also took on Care Minister Helen Whately, with a similar outcome.
Piers was cleared for his interviews after the regulator ruled he was fulfilling his journalistic duty.
The crisis has even seen a friendship crumble for Piers after butting heads with Lord Alan Sugar.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, he told: “It’s gone way beyond a joke, and for me it’s ruined our friendship.
“I think we’re done as friends. I can’t see through the behaviour.”
And his heated online clashes with Denise Welch have seen her accuse him of “utter lies.”
Meanwhile, Piers branded the Loose Women star a “dumb, deluded, Covid-denier”, something she furiously denied.
Anyone who follows Denise on Twitter will know that she has strong opinions about lockdown measures, urging the government to start lifting restrictions and let life get back to normal.
Denise’s Loose Women pal Nadia Sawalha even waded into the debate on the side of her friend.
