Suarez in tears as he makes final Barcelona exit ahead of Atletico Madrid move

Luis Suarez has bid an emotional farewell to his Barcelona teammates ahead of his imminent move to fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
The 33-year-old had it made clear to him over the summer that he is not in new manager Ronald Koeman’s plans, and after a proposed move to Juventus broke down he now appears set for Atletico.
His move could be announced by the end of Wednesday, with Barcelona expected to hold a press conference on Thursday paying tribute to their outgoing star.
Suarez was pictured slumped in his car in tears as he left Barca’s training ground for the last time after he said his goodbyes to close friends such as Lionel Messi.
It is believed he was keen to stay at the club, but had no choice but to leave given Barcelona’s insistence on getting him off their wage bill.
He departs as the club’s third all-time top goalscorer with a sensational 198 goals in 283 appearances, while he helped the Catalan giants win four La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys and a Champions League during his six years at the Nou Camp.
Suarez will sign a two-year deal with Atletico, and they have agreed to pay just under £4m for the player.
Once the deal is finalised it will draw to an end what has been a turbulent few days for the Uruguayan forward.
He initially looked most likely to go to Juventus, but the move eventually collapsed due to passport complications.
To make matters worse Suarez may now be facing fraud allegations over claims he cheated on an Italian test which was necessary to gain the passport.
It remains to be seen when Suarez will make his Atletico debut, with their La Liga season kicking off this weekend as they host Granada on Sunday.
