The former nanny that Mel B accused of ruining her marriage to Stephen Belfonte is alleged to have helped him buy a £1million home in Los Angeles.
According to The Sun, the former Spice Girl is ‘furious’ to hear that Lorraine Gilles has given Belafonte ‘£154,000’ towards a five bedroom home.
Mel, who is currently living at her mum’s bungalow in Leeds, had to make a payment of £1.8million to Gilles last year after calling her a ‘prostitute.’
The singer agreed to an out of court settlement after making the accusations in her divorce declaration against Belafonte.
Mel, 45, branded Gilles a “prostitute” and alleged her ex-husband got the nanny pregnant and coerced her into threesomes. Both Belafonte, 43, and Gilles, 28, denied Mel’s claims.
Following the costly divorce, Mel moved into her mum Andrea’s home after returning to England.
A source told The Sun: “It is extremely galling for Mel to see this when she hasn’t got any money to buy a house of her own.
“Lorraine got a lot of money from her case against Mel – now it is revealed that Lorraine has given hundreds of thousands to Stephen to go towards a house. Mel is aghast at the cheek of it all.
“She’s also paying Stephen a fortune and she’s got so many legal fees to pay. If she could afford to buy her own house she would — but she can’t.”
Court documents filed in California in August show are reported to show that Belafonte received $200,000 (£154,000) as a ‘gift’ to buy property in July last year.
It’s also alleged the money was put straight into escrow and not into TV producer’s band accounts.
Nanny Gilles began working for the former couple in 2009 when she was an 18-year-old student who had arrived in the US from Germany.
She admitted during a legal deposition that she had sex with him Belafonte 10 to 15 times, despite previously denying the affair.
In May 2017, Mel obtained a five year restraining order against Gilles, 29, with a judge ordering the nanny to stay at least 100 yards away from the star, as well as banning her from going near Mel’s children.
In March this year Mel filed legal papers claiming that Gilles was staying with her ex husband and their eight-year-old daughter Madison.
In documents seen by The Sun, Mel claimed Belafonte, 44, told Madison to refer to Gilles as “Jenny” to keep the relationship a secret.
Madison reportedly told her sister Phoenix which alarmed the 21-year-old, who knew about the restraining order.
In court papers filed in LA Mel says: “I am shocked that our daughter would be forced to perpetuate a lie formed by her father simply to keep his mistress/girlfriend/nanny out of trouble.
“It is psychologically abusive for our little girl to be forced to keep secrets for her father or be made to believe that she cannot share what she wants . . . with her mother.”
Gilles has been seen at the same bungalow as Belafonte and was also photographed picking Madison up from school.
Mel is currently fighting for custody of Madison.
She wants to bring her youngest child back to the UK to live with her and her other children Phoenix and Angel, 12.
Mirror Online has contacted Mel and Stephen’s representatives for comment.
