Three ways Tottenham could line up with the signing of Gareth Bale

It looks like it could be all change at Tottenham in the coming days with the club set to announce two huge new signings in the form of Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.
Reguilon, 23, is reportedly undergoing a medical with a view to joining the north London club, and he will almost certainly become their first-choice left-back ahead of Ben Davies.
Bale, meanwhile, is set for an emotional return to the club where he spent six years between 2007-13, and it would certainly be a transfer which would turn heads all around Europe.
So how will Jose Mourinho look to implement the two prospective new arrivals in his side?
Here are three possible line-ups he may be considering…
1. A fully-fit 4-3-3
Tottenham’s strength in depth at the full-back position is certainly looking far greater than it was a few weeks ago, with first Matt Doherty joining from Wolves and now Reguilon seemingly ready to put pen to paper.
They are likely to be Mourinho’s first choice pairing, with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez potentially rotating with Eric Dier at centre-back.
Another new signing, Emile Hojbjerg, is likely to sit in front of them, while Mourinho has offered hope recently that Tanguy Ndombele may yet play a big part this season.
Giovani Lo Celso offered plenty of promise last season, and the prospect of him feeding a lethal front three of Bale, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane is one which would certainly excite Spurs fans.
2. A 4-3-3 without Kane
It is no secret that, at some point of any campaign, star striker Kane tends to pick up an injury which will rule him out for at least a few weeks.
Spurs’ over-reliance on him to play up top is something that needs to change if they are to keep him fit and have a successful season, and although it is not his natural position, Bale would look the most suitable option to lead the line in the absence of Kane rather than Son.
In this scenario, the likes of Lucas Moura or Steven Bergwijn would be able to take his place on the wing.
Spurs are still said to be trying to sign a natural back-up for Kane, however, so watch this space.
3. A 4-2-3-1
Mourinho’s favoured formation so far at Spurs has been a 4-2-3-1, and he may opt to keep that even with the arrival of Bale.
While the back four would remain unchanged, Harry Winks is probably the most likely to sit along with Hojbjerg in front of the back four, with Moussa Sissoko and Ndombele also in contention.
Bale, Lo Celso and Son would be the three just behind Kane, although again Lucas, Bergwijn and Dele Alli would likely also feature heavily, especially given Spurs’ congested fixtures list.
Whatever Mourinho decides to go for, it is certainly an exciting time for Tottenham fans, and they will no doubt be eager to see what ends up being the favoured line-up and formation.
