Stacey Solomon has opened up about leading a blended family.
Appearing on a video call as part of today’s Loose Women panel, the mum-of-three told that partner Joe Swash tends not to “feel comfortable” disciplining her kids.
Stacey and Joe share one-year-old Rex, while Stacey has Zachary, 12, and Leighton, eight, from previous relationships.
Joe, meanwhile, has 13-year-old Harry with ex Emma Sophocleous.
Stacey and Joe struck up a romance back in 2016, shacked up together in 2018 and welcomed baby Rex last year.
Now she’s told that despite the closeness of their blended family, she takes on discipling her lads.
“Joe doesn’t feel very comfortable disciplining my boys,” she revealed, “and if I’m around, I always think that’s my job.
“Joe needs to have that friendly relationship with them.”
She added that Joe would discipline them if he was on his own with them.
“If he’s on his own with the boys, then I expect him to discipline them if they do something wrong,” Stacey continued, “but outside of that, he doesn’t.
“When you’re a blended family the person who you’re with is always the fun one, because you don’t want them to be really strict.
“It’s just a really hard dynamic. It just depends how your household is and who’s there.”
Another segment saw the panel, along with guest Jonathan Ross, discuss whether it’s “normal” to commit to one partner for life.
“Joe, I love you, I want to be with you forever,” Stacey gushed, “but I do sometimes question if it’s normal.”
“I want the fairytale, I want to be with someone forever.”
Joe’s previously touched on the subject of their blended family, telling the Step Life podcast: “We couldn’t be more blended if you tried. And like you said, it is tricky. It’s not straightforward.
“There’s lots of people to take into consideration. Some of them people might not be as reasonable as other people, you know, so it’s a constant one field of trying to juggle and keep all the parties happy.”
He added that while they’re close now, he was worried Harry would grow jealous of Stacey’s kids when they first met.
*Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12:30pm.
