Molly-Mae Hague has shared her skin cancer scare story after watching a Stand Up To Cancer special.
The 21-year-old former Love Island star was inspired to share her story after watching a Stand Up To Cancer segment about cancer victim Emily Hayward who passed away in 2018.
Emily tragically died when she was just 17-years-old when she lost a 10-year battle against skin cancer – sharing her health battle on YouTube.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Saturday night, Molly-Mae revealed she had endured a skin cancer scare of her own, sharing the moment she noticed the mark herself and how she sought a consultation with doctors.
The reality star developed an unusual mole on her skin when she was a contestant on Love Island in 2019 – where she spent months in the Spanish sunshine.
She said her mother noticed the mark appear on her leg while watching her on TV and urged her to get a medical diagnosis.
Tearing up, Molly-Mae told the camera: “I actually found a mole on the back of my calf about a year or so ago and had it checked, obviously I’m so blessed that mine wasn’t cancerous, but it just made me so upset that like ‘’what does she do to deserve that? Who deserves that?’
“It is just the worst thing in the world. It’s just to comprehend for families that have to go through it, how much of a struggle it must be for people who actually deal with cancer. It just broke my heart watching that.”
She shared a photo of her leg featuring a red-brown coloured mole.
She wrote: “Get your moles checked people!!!
“It is so unbelievably important. I’ve had this checked three times now by different consultants just to be sure.
“This just appeared out of nowhere for me and my mum actually noticed it when I was on Love Island through watching me on TV.”
She added: “Never ignore changes to your body.”
