Paris Hilton has opened up about past abusive relationships – during which she says she was “strangled and hit.”
The 39-year-old, who’s now in a “safe” and healthy relationship with Carter Reum, claims several of her exes had been good to her to begin with, only to later reveal their “true colours.”
“I went through multiple abusive relationships,” the star told PEOPLE, “I was strangled, I was hit, I was grabbed aggressively. I put up with things no one should.”
Later this month, Paris’ documentary This Is Paris will air on her YouTube channel.
In the documentary, she makes various allegations about her time at the Provo Canyon boarding school in Utah.
Paris explains that the abuse she suffered there made her feel as though abuse in relationships was “normal.”
When approached by Mirror Online, Provo Canyon School told us: “Originally opened in 1971, Provo Canyon School was sold by its previous ownership in August 2000. We therefore cannot comment on the operations or patient experience prior to this time.”
The institution added: “We do not condone or promote any form of abuse. Any and all alleged/suspected abuse is reported to our state regulatory authorities, law enforcement and Child Protective Services immediately as required.
“We are committed to providing high-quality care to youth with special, and often complex, emotional, behavioral and psychiatric needs.
While not identifying any of the boyfriends who she alleges were abusive toward her, Paris added that they were all kind to her before showing their “true colours.”
“They’d get jealous, or defensive, or try to control me,” she said, “And there there would come a point where they would become physically, verbally and emotionally abusive.”
She went on: “Looking back, I can’t believe I let people treat me like that.”
Referencing her 2003 leaked sex tape, Paris claimed she wouldn’t have made it if she hadn’t suffered the trauma she did at the school.
Of her relationship with Carter, Paris couldn’t be more full of praise.
“I feel so safe with him,” she gushed, “Before, I don’t think I was really ready for a good relationship.
“And I’m so grateful to have found my perfect match.”
Paris is the great-granddaughter of legendary hotelier, Conrad Hilton.
In 2003, she solidified her fame alongside pal Nicole Richie when the two starred in reality bash The Simple Life together.
