We’re a little over 2 weeks away from Indian Premier League 2020 but the off-field banter seems to have started already. In the build-up to what is expected to be one of the most-anticipated IPL seasons, the social media battles are heating up.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians shared a fan-made video of a collection of some of their celebrated IPL moments. Incidentally, the video which has a Tamil song from the move Bigil running in the background was initially posted by Mumbai Indians’ fans from Tamil Nadu, the home of Chennai Super Kings.

After being pointed out by a fan, CSK came up with a cheeky response to the video. The Chennai-based franchise posted an image of actor Rajinikanth from his blockbuster ‘Baasha’, replying to the fan’s comment.

“Veikatum (Let them keep it),” CSK responded. Notably, the video starts with Lasith Mainga yorkers that send back Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and former opener Michael Hussey.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians on Wednesday confirmed Lasith Malinga pulled out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. Australia pacer James Pattinson replaces the IPL’s all-time wicket-taker who has opted out to be with his family.

Mumbai Indians are likely to feature in the tournament opener. While IPL 2020 was initially scheduled to begin with another chapter of the famous MI-CSK rivalry, it remains to be seen if MS Dhoni’s men will be part of the opening match on September 19. The BCCI is yet to announce the fixtures for IPL 2020.

13 Chennai Super Kings members, including two players, tested positive for Covid-19 during the 6-day quarantine period after their arrival in Dubai. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told indiatoday.in that all their other members have tested negative for Covid-19 and the team is likely to start training from September 4, provided the other members return negative results in Wednesday’s additional test.

CSK will be the last team to begin training as all other teams hit the outdoor nets from the weekend. Mumbai Indians had a team-bonding session in their ‘Team Room’ in Abu Dhabi to help players recover from the quarantine period.
