IPL 2020: KXIP net session was great despite very hot temperatures in Dubai, says KL Rahul

Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul, after the team’s first outdoor session on Wednesday night, has expressed his thrill of returning to the nets despite ‘hot’ temperatures in the country.

The Kings XI Punjab franchise, after having followed all SOPs in place in India, were the first team to arrive to the UAE last week. The franchise has now successfully completed their quarantine period in Dubai and returned to practise on Wednesday night. As the team made it to the nets on Thursday morning, KXIP skipper KL Rahul expressed his elatedness after having returned to training. KL Rahul, however, pointed out that the temperatures in the conditions in UAE is hotter than what he is usually used to playing under.

“It (the net session) was very good. Been at home for so long so just being able to get a chance to be in the middle with the team to get a hit feels really really good,”?Rahul said in a video posted by the official Twitter handle of KXIP.

“The conditions are very very hot. Ideally I would have loved to bat in temperature much cooler. But yeah, really happy to be outdoors and to practice and to do what we love,” he added.

Kings XI Punjab were one of the six teams with their base as Dubai, while Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are the two teams whose base is in Abu Dhabi.

All teams in Dubai have successfully completed their quarantine period of seven days and will start outdoor training on Friday. On the other hand, KKR and Mumbai would have to undergo another seven days in quarantine to complete a period of two weeks, as described in the list of SOPs. The 2020 edition of the IPL starts of September 19 and will be played across three venues- Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
