England vs Pakistan: Jason Roy ruled out of T20I series due to injury

England has been dealt a blow on the eve of the first Twenty20 against Pakistan with the news opening batsman Jason Roy will miss the three-match series because of a left side strain.

England opener Jason Roy on Thursday was ruled out of England’s squad for the three-match T20I series vs Pakistan because of a left side strain. Jason Roy was hurt during practice at Old Trafford this week and had a scan on Wednesday which revealed the injury.
“He will remain with the England set-up and will commence his rehabilitation programme looking ahead to the Australia white-ball series, which starts next month at The Ageas Bowl,” the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.
Roy will remain with the England squad and look to recover in time for the white-ball series against Australia in Southampton starting September 4 with the first of three T20s.

England had named a 14-man Twenty20 squad for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan, with selectors leaving out players from the Test squad in the ongoing series against the Asian side.
Eoin Morgan will captain the side, with all three matches to be played behind closed doors at Old Trafford in Manchester when the series begins on Aug. 28, three days after the end of the third and final test match in Southampton.
All three T20I matches against Pakistan are at Old Trafford with the others being on Sunday and Tuesday.
