Ellyse Perry and Matt Toomua split: Stars announce end to their marriage
Australia women’s cricket team all-rounder Ellyse Perry and rugby star Matt Toomua announce separation
Australian cricket superstar Ellyse Perry and Aussie rugby union player Matt Toomua have called time on their relationship.
The sporting power couple, who tied the knot in 2015, released a joint statement confirming the news
“It’s with the greatest of respect for one another that we decided to separate earlier this year,” the pair said in a joint statement on Saturday.
“We felt this was the right course of action and is in the best interests of each other and our current lives. This is something that has evolved and is a mutual decision.
Throughout our relationship we have remained private and we ask that our space and privacy continue to be respected during this difficult time for both of us.”
Speculation began to spread in February when Perry arrived at the Australian Cricket Awards in Melbourne without her wedding ring on.

Perry celebrated the night by claiming her third straight Belinda Clark award, but fans couldn’t help but focus on her empty left hand.
A member of the Melbourne Rebels, Toomua played a staring role in the club’s 29-10 win against the NSW Waratahs on Friday night at the SCG.
The couple went public in 2013 when they appeared at the John Eales Medal awards night before getting engaged a year later and then marrying in 2015.
