Biden gives blow to India over Kashmir and NRC, even before he became the President of America.
Presidential elections are going to be held in the US in November. Biden has given an anti-India statement about Kashmir and the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, which is leading in the race for the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party. He has said that India should take necessary steps to get the Kashmiris their rights. Joe Biden also expressed disappointment over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the implementation of NRC in Assam.
The policy paper published on Joe Biden’s campaign website titled ‘Agenda for the Muslim American Community’ states that steps like citizenship (amendment law) and NRC are against the long tradition of multiculturalism and secularism in Indian democracy.
A group of Hindu-Americans have expressed their opposition to the language against India in Biden’s campaign and asked to reconsider it. The group has also demanded a similar policy paper for Hindu-Americans. However, no answer has been received from Biden campaign on these questions.
The policy paper states that Biden understands the pain of Muslim-Americans about developments in Muslim countries and countries with Muslim populations. In this document, Kashmir and Assam have also been kept along with Detention Camp to the Vegar Muslims of China. It also mentions discrimination and oppression happening against the Rohingya Muslim minorities in Myanmar.

It states, “The Government of India in Kashmir must take all necessary steps to return the rights of Kashmiris. To suppress dissent, prevent protests or shut down the internet, democracy weakens. Biden of the Government of India Assam I am also disappointed with the move to implement NRC and bring the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
The Indian government has rejected the statements of external organizations and other countries, calling the Citizenship Amendment Act and Kashmir an internal matter. The government says that the purpose of this law is to protect the oppressed minorities of neighboring countries. Under this law, citizens of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities who came to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before 31 December 2014 will be given citizenship. At the same time, regarding the NRC in Assam, the government has said that this too is a completely internal matter and it is being implemented under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
Biden’s supporter Ajay Jain Bhatoria told news agency PTI that Biden has been seen as a friend of India during Barack Obama’s 8-year presidential term as a US lawmaker and former president. He has a similar image among Indian-Americans. Biden also played an important role in the Indo-US nuclear deal. Biden used to organize Diwali celebrations at his residence when he was vice-president.
He said, “Biden understands all the issues affecting India, such as cross-border terrorism, infiltration of terrorists in Kashmir, pain of Hindu minorities in Kashmir, disputes with China in the Indo-Pacific, global security, terrorism and economic India’s emerging role in partnership with the US in many areas, including partnerships. “
Bhatoria said, “There are certain groups of elected officials in the US who spread misinformation about Kashmir and India. Recently, the US blocked the H-1B visa policy related to migrants, which raised questions about Should go. India also has the right to set its own migrant policy. I have grown up in Assam and I have seen a swarm of people coming from across the border. They are snatching the resources and jobs of North-East Indians. “
Rishi Bhutada, a board member of the Hindu-American Action Committee, said that many things are missing from Biden’s campaign, such as Pakistan-backed cross-border terrorism in relation to Kashmir. Also, under the CAA, good aspects like the granting of citizenship of India to the oppressed minorities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan should also be mentioned.
