How much money in PM CARES? Center does not want to tell, demand to dismiss the petition
Advocate Arvind Waghmare has demanded in his petition that the government should give information on the official website about the amount it has received so far and how much it has spent in this fund.
The Center does not want to make public the information about how much money has been received in the PM Care Trust created during the Corona virus crisis. A petition related to this demand has been opposed by the Central Government in the Bombay High Court and has asked the court to quash the petition.
PM Care is a public trust and the Center has set up this fund with the help of people. On Wednesday, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh told the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court that the petition filed by lawyer Arvind Waghmare should be rejected, according to news agency PTI.
Anil Singh told a division bench of Justices SB Shukre and Justice AS Kilor that the Supreme Court had rejected one such petition challenging the formation of PM Care Trust in April.
Center to file affidavit
However, the court said that the demand for this petition is different. The court gave an affidavit to the central government to tell what is its stand on this issue. The court has given two weeks time to the Center for this.

Members of Opposition should be appointed in PM Cares
According to the petition, the Chairman of PM Care Trust is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the Defense Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister are its members. According to the rules, the chairperson of this trust has to appoint or nominate three more trustees. However, the petition claimed that after the formation of this trust on March 28, no person has been appointed till now.
The petitioner has demanded that the court direct the government and the trust that at least two members from opposition parties be appointed in it, so that transparency in the trust is maintained.
