Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh : The woman was drinking water from the river, crocodile attacked and chewed her hand
When a woman working in the field felt thirsty, she started drinking water on the Sindh river nearby. Just then, a hungry crocodile sitting ambush attacked the woman and in a few seconds chewed half a hand. This incident which has created a hue and cry is from Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh.
In Amola police station area of Shivpuri district, a crocodile attacked an old woman Swaroopi tribal working on a farm while drinking water. The crocodile completely separated the woman from the top of the elbow.
Kalyan Adivasi, the son of a tribal woman, says that the mother was working on her farm. When she felt thirsty, she went to drink water on the Sindh river near the farm. Suddenly a crocodile came to the banks of the river and attacked the mother and chewed her aside with half an arm.
The son further told that when the maternal uncle saw the crocodile, he, along with other villagers, stoned the crocodile by stoning, then brought the mother to the hospital in critical condition.
The woman’s brother says that when he saw the sister battling with the crocodile, he came close to running, then drove the crocodile away, but by then he had eaten half a hand.
Surgeon Pankaj Gupta, who treated the woman in the district hospital, says that half the arm has been separated. The blood flowed a lot but now the woman is out of danger.
