Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh: UP-Bihar labors block Chennai highway, demand to return home
Chittoor In Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district, a large number of migrant laborers have blocked the highway connecting Chennai and Srikalahasti. The workers say that they should be sent to the home state. More than 1500 workers gathered say that the closed factories are not providing clothes and food to anyone.
The companies are closed due to the lockdown and are not even providing food to the laborers living on their campus. Angry laborers say that the local administration is not helping either. The local administration has removed the workers from the railway track. Some workers were waiting for the special train at Gudur Junction. The workers had received information that a special train is running between Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, in which the workers will be able to return to their homes.
Workers are not getting ration
The workers had received information that this train would go towards Bihar via Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. However, the administration has removed the workers from the railway platforms and tracks. The workers are demanding to return to their states. Thousands of laborers from Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are stranded due to the lockdown in Andhra Pradesh. The workers are insisting on returning, because the local administration is not able to provide them with food and essential goods.

For the last 40 days, the workers are stuck in Andhra Pradesh but their return is not being arranged, while the central and state governments are also running many special trains for the return of the workers. The trapped laborers in other states now want to return home.
