Railways made it clear, no special train will run, 39 lakh tickets will be canceled

However, due to various rumors spreading after the congestion in Mumbai, the Railways once again clarified that passenger trains have been canceled across the country by 3 May 2020 and any plans to run special trains to remove the crowd Is not. In the message shared from the railway ministry’s Twitter handle, it has also been said not to spread false information in this regard.
Earlier sources said that due to the postponement of passenger trains due to increasing lockdown, the Railways will have to cancel around 39 lakh tickets booked for the journey between April 15 and May 3. Actually, the railways had allowed ticket booking after April 14 at the end of the 21-day lockdown. In such a situation, 39 lakh tickets were booked in the hope of starting the trains.
According to official figures, around two crore people travel daily by 15,000 passenger trains in the country. The Civil Aviation Ministry also said that all international and domestic commercial passenger flights will be postponed until midnight of May 3. Some airlines had made bookings in the hope of resuming flights from Wednesday. An average of 500,000 people travel by domestic and international flights every day.
The railways said in a statement that in view of the ongoing lockdown due to Kovid-19, it has been decided to cancel all passenger rail services of Indian Railways till May 3, 2020. However, to ensure the supply of essential goods in different parts of the country, the operation of goods and parcel trains will continue. The statement said, no booking of any type of tickets will be done till the next order. However, the online facility to cancel previously booked tickets will continue.
