Corona video conference: PM Modi asks states if Lockdown should be extended; Also calls for monetary help
During the video conferencing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded the help of 2500 crores. Apart from this, other states including Punjab have also sought financial help from the Center.
State governments fighting the war on Corona have demanded their dues from the Center. Actually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was talking to the Chief Ministers of all the states through video conferencing today. During this time the states have demanded medical kit, dues from the Center as well as financial help. The states asked the Center how long the lockdown will be in force?
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded the help of 2500 crores from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with this, arrears of 50 thousand crore have also been demanded. Like West Bengal, Punjab has also demanded the old arrears of 60 thousand crores. With this, Punjab demanded the Central Government to arrange to keep two lakh metric tonnes of wheat before the arrival of the new crop.
Like West Bengal and Punjab, other states also demanded supply of personal protection equipment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fight the war against Corona. Along with this, there has been a demand to give the old dues. States told PM Modi that this time the revenue collection will decrease due to lockdown, the Center should compensate for this.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the state governments to implement the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Scheme. He said that the state governments should try to stop the migration, besides the poor get money and ration in their account. State governments asked the Center to raise the lockdown. Governments asked if there was a plan to increase the lockdown.
Talking to the Chief Ministers, PM Narendra Modi said that we are trying to establish the best coordination with the state governments, because we all have to fight together in the battle of Corona. The central government will support the state government at every step. He also learned about the medical facilities of the states.
