Be ready to buy five times more expensive data, JIO recommends
India’s telecom companies are going through their worst phase these days. In this way, the effect is slowly starting to be visible to the customers. Recently tariffs have been increased. But now using your mobile can be even more expensive.
Telecom regulator body TRAI is actually preparing to bring a floor pricing. Reliance Jio has instructed TRAI to increase the floor price. This company has said that initially Rs 15 per GB should be fixed for data.
Reliance Jio has also advised TRAI that after some time i.e. six to nine months it can be increased to Rs 20 per GB. In a report of ET Telecom, these things have been quoted from sources.
According to reports, Reliance Jio has said that Indian customers are price sensitive. To increase the floor plan, it is necessary that it is not done at once and the floor plan should be increased at some time intervals.
As we said, the telecom companies have to give thousands of crores of rupees to the government and because of this, companies like Vodafone Idea are battling for survival. TRAI is working on a consultation paper so that they can be revived. A base price will be fixed for the data under floor pricing.
Recently, Vodafone Idea has written a letter to the Department of Telecom. The company has said that the minimum price of 1 GB data should be reduced to Rs 35. Currently, you pay around 4 to 5 rupees for 1 GB of data.
Now, both Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio are recommending increase in the prices of data under this floor pricing company, then obviously some decision will be taken in the coming time.
If TRAI finds a middle ground on the recommendation of these two companies, then in this case also the prices of data will increase. Increasing the data price will mean directly on your mobile recharge plan and they will become more expensive than before.
At the moment it is not clear when it will be brought. But given the situation that the telecom industry is experiencing at the moment, it seems that using mobile data may soon become even more expensive. Because if the company does this, then slowly all companies will do. There are very few telecom players left in India at this time, so you will have less options.
