The Maharashtra government has announced 5 percent reservation for Muslims in government educational institutions. After which now the Madhya Pradesh government has also indicated to give reservation to Muslims.
On the announcement of reservation for Muslims in government educational institutions through the Maharashtra government, Minister in the Madhya Pradesh government Hukum Singh Karada said, ‘Our agenda regarding minorities is in readiness. After a few days you will see that more concession is going to be received from Maharashtra.
In fact, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik said, “ After the matter went to the High Court, the order to continue the five per cent reservation in government educational institutions, but that ordinance ended in December 2014. The previous government did not take any action regarding that. Members demanded that reservation should be given. We have announced that the High Court has given the recognition for reservation in educational institutions, we will make and implement the law as soon as possible.
Thackeray has advocated for reservation
At the same time, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has advocated for giving reservation to Muslims. In 2018, Uddhav Thackeray had targeted the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying, ‘The government is violating the Bombay High Court’s order to provide reservation to Maratha community, whereas the government should not only give reservation to Marathas, Dhangar and Muslim communities as well Should consider giving.
