‘Shoot at Sight’: Karnataka minister demands law against those who raise ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan

• Amulya Leona has been booked under Sections 124A, 153A and 153B of the Indian Penal Code.
• Asaduddin Owaisi had asserted that his party, AIMIM, shares no link with Amulya.
• Amulya’s father had, in unequivocal terms, condemned his daughter’s act.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Agriculture Minister BC Patil on Sunday advocated “much-needed” law against those who either speak ill of India or raise pro-Pakistan slogans. While talking to the media, Patil said ‘shoot at sight’ law has to be brought in India.

“They are enjoying food, water and air of India. Why should they be here if they raise ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan? In China, people are scared to talk against their country. I request PM (Narendra) Modi to bring in a tough law to deal with traitors,” said Patil.

Patil’s statement came a few days after a 19-year-old girl was arrested in Bengaluru for shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan at an anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act rally.

Amulya Leona has been booked under Sections 124A, 153A and 153B of the Indian Penal Code.

Amulya hogged the limelight last Thursday when she was whisked away by the Karnataka Police from the dais for shouting pro-Pakistan slogan at the Freedom Park in Bengaluru. The programme, organised by the Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Issai Federation, was being attended by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi.

Following the incident, the Karnataka unit of the BJP had lashed out at the AIMIM and Owaisi, tweeting: “‘Anti-CAA Activist Amulya Leona shouts PAKISTAN ZINDABAD in the presence of AIMIM Chief @asadowaisi at Bengaluru. Truth is that protests against #CAA are a joint venture between Pakistan & Anti-National Forces led by @INCIndia. Those who support Pakistan should go there forever.”

Owaisi had, however, asserted that his party shares no link with Amulya.

Amulya’s father had, in unequivocal terms, condemned his daughter’s act. “What she said is wrong. She was joined by some Muslims and wasn’t listening to me.”

While speaking with a Kannada news channel, her father had said: “Let her rot in jail and let police break her bones for what she said and did. I don’t support what she said and will not approach lawyers for her bail. She has committed a grave mistake.”

‘Rs 10 lakh reward for killing Amulya?’

The Karnataka Police is probing a video clip being circulated on the social media, in which a pro-Hindu outfit leader is purportedly offering a Rs 10 lakh reward to anyone for killing Bengaluru’s Amulya Leona. 

“Though no complaint has been filed or case booked against Sri Rama Sene leader Sanjeev Maradi for making the alleged offer, we are analysing a video clip being circulated on social media to ascertain its content and summon him for questioning,” Ballari Superintendent of Police CK Baba told news agency IANS.
