How do I get a link (URL) to a photo or video on Instagram?
You can only get a link to photos and videos that have been shared publicly. If an account is set to private, you won’t be able to get a link to any of their posts.
To get a link to a post:
- Tap (iOS) or(Android) above the post.
- Tap Copy Link.
To get a link to a post from the web:
- Open your web browser.
- Go to instagram.com/username. For example, if the username is “johnsmith,” type in instagram.com/johnsmith as the URL.
- Click the post you want to save and copy the link at the top of your browser.
How do I link or unlink my Instagram account to my Facebook profile?
Link your account
To link your Instagram and Facebook accounts and share posts directly from Instagram to Facebook:
- Go to your profile and tap .
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Account, then tap Linked Accounts.
- Tap Facebook and enter your Facebook login info.
Once you link accounts, you’ll have the option to share a post to Facebook from the same screen where you add a caption. You can also share from Instagram to a Facebook Page you manage.
Can I link multiple Instagram accounts to my Facebook profile?
Yes, you can link multiple Instagram accounts to your Facebook profile. When you link an Instagram account to Facebook, your Facebook friends who are on Instagram may get a notification telling them that you’re using that Instagram account.
How do I share posts from my Instagram account to a Facebook Page that I manage?
To share posts from your Instagram account to your Facebook Page, you first need to be an admin of that Page on Facebook.
To share posts from your Instagram account to a Facebook Page:
Android
- Go to your profile and tap .
- TapSettings.
- Tap Account > Linked Accounts, then select Facebook.
- If you haven’t already, enter your Facebook login information.
- By default, your Instagram account will share to your personal Facebook profile. To share to a Page instead, choose a Page that you manage below Share to.
iPhone
- Go to your profile and tap .
- TapSettings.
- Tap Account > Linked Accounts, then select Facebook.
- If you haven’t already, enter your Facebook login information.
- By default, your Instagram account will share to your personal Facebook profile. To share to a Page instead, tap Share to and choose a Page that you manage.

When I share an Instagram post to Facebook, is it visible to the public?
No. When you share a photo or video to Facebook, the audience is set to Friends by default. You can change the audience later by going to the post on Facebook and clicking the audience selector.
Can I choose which Facebook album my Instagram posts are added to?
No, but you can move the photo from your Instagram Photos album to another once it’s been uploaded. Learn how to move photos between albums on Facebook.
Can I change the name of the Facebook album I upload Instagram posts to?
You can change the name of the Facebook album you upload Instagram posts to by going to the photo album on Facebook.
Keep in mind that if you change the name of the Facebook album, the next time you share an Instagram post to Facebook a new album titled Instagram Photos will be automatically created, and your post will be added there.
You can also move posts between albums on Facebook.
How many photos can I upload to a Facebook photo album?
You can upload up to 1,000 photos to a Facebook photo album that’s been created by a third-party app.
Why am I seeing someone else’s Facebook info or posting to someone else’s Facebook account from Instagram?
This may happen if someone has used your phone to log into Instagram and then linked their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
To relink your Instagram account with your Facebook account:
- Go to your profile and tap .
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Account, then tap Linked Accounts.
- Tap Facebook.
- If the wrong account is appearing, tap Unlink Account (iPhone) or Unlink (Android).
- Tap Yes, Unlink to confirm and then enter your Facebook login information.
You can also remove an Instagram account from your Facebook account:
- Visit Facebook’s app settings to revoke access to Instagram, which will unlink the wrong Facebook account.
- Just tap the Facebook icon again and enter your login information to link the correct account.
Other Networks
How do I share my old Instagram posts to another site?
To share a photo you’ve previously uploaded on Instagram to another site:
- Go to your profile and tap the post you’d like to share.
- Tap (iPhone) or (Android).
- Tap Share.
- Tap the name of the site where you’d like to share your post (Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr) and then tap Share (iPhone) or (Android). You can also choose Email or Copy Link (iPhone) or Share link with other apps (Android).
Keep in mind that if you haven’t previously linked your Instagram account to that site or service, you’ll be prompted to log in. Once you’ve linked your Instagram account to that account, the icon for that site will turn blue.

What happens if I share my Instagram post to another social network?
If someone with a private profile shares a photo or video to a social network (like Twitter, Facebook and so on) using Instagram, the image will be visible on that network and the permalink will be active. In other words, the photo will be publicly accessible by anyone who has access to its direct link/URL.
Keep in mind that sharing a photo or video to a social network doesn’t mean that the image will be visible in Instagram. Your account will still appear private to those who aren’t approved followers.
Hipstamatic
When using Hipstamatic, you can share your photo directly to Instagram. Just choose to share the photo and then tap the Instagram icon. You can write a caption for your photo and also decide whether you want Hipstamatic to automatically include the #hipstamatic hashtag as well as tags noting which camera and lens you used to take the photo.
After you link your Instagram account to Hipstamatic and choose to share, your photo will automatically appear on Instagram. If tags are turned on for your photo, Hipstamatic automatically includes tags in the caption. An attribution (“Taken with Hipstamatic”) will appear below your caption. Tapping on “Hipstamatic” will direct you to the app if it’s already installed on your phone or to the Hipstamatic App Store page if you haven’t installed it yet.
ミクシィ / Mixi (Japan) (iOS)
Keep in mind that “ミクシィ/Mixi” won’t appear in your share options if your phone’s language or region format isn’t set to Japanese. Region format doesn’t change the language of your phone; it only changes the way dates and numbers are displayed.
After you’ve taken and edited a photo or edited a photo saved to your phone, you can link your Mixi account under Share:
- Log into your account.
- Confirm the app’s permissions.
- Tap the Mixi icon to turn sharing on. Your photo will now upload to Instagram and Mixi.
If you’re outside of Japan but have a Mixi account, you can link your Mixi account by changing your region format to Japanese:
- Go to your phone’s Settings and then tap General > Language & Region > Region.
- Choose Japan from the list.
- Choose Done > Continue and return to Instagram.
On the Sharing screen, you should now see Mixi as one of the available services.
Weibo (China)/ 新浪微博 (iOS)
Keep in mind that “新浪微博 / Weibo” won’t appear in your share options if your phone’s language or region format isn’t set to Chinese. Region format doesn’t change the language of your phone; it only changes the way dates and numbers are displayed.
To set up Weibo sharing:
- After you’ve taken and edited a photo or edited a photo saved to your phone or tablet, you can configure Weibo under Share on the upload screen.
- Log into your account.
- Make sure the Weibo share icon has been selected. Your photo will now upload to Instagram and Weibo.
If you’re outside of China but have a Weibo account, you can enable Weibo sharing:
- Go to your phone’s Settings and then tap General > Language & Region > Region.
- Choose China.
- Choose Done > Continue and return to Instagram.
On the Sharing screen, you should now see Weibo as one of the available services.
Disconnect from a Social Network
How do I disconnect my Instagram account from another social network?
To disconnect and stop sharing your Instagram posts to another social network:
- Go to your profile and tap .
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Linked Accounts, then tap [site name].
- Tap Unlink Account (iOS) or Unlink (Android).
- Tap Yes, Unlink.
If you’re trying to relink Instagram to a social network, you may have to visit that site’s settings to unlink your previous account. Learn how to revoke Instagram’s access to another social network:
