Congress demands Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak be made tax-free in Rajasthan
The Congress in the Ashok Gehlot-ruled state of Rajasthan has demanded that Deepika Padukone-starrer movie, Chhapaak, be made tax-free in the state.
“My demand from Rajasthan Government is that the movie, Chhapaak, should be made tax-free in Rajasthan because it is a story of a woman who, despite the dastardly acid attack, bravely fought and now inspires several women,” Jaswant Gurjar, Secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), said.
The demand has come to the fore after Deepika Padukone had lent her support to the students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi, where several students and faculty members were at the receiving end of brutal violence inside the University premises.
Earlier today, two other states, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, declared Deepika’s Chhapaak tax-free.
It is to be seen if the Rajasthan State Government also follows in on the footsteps of MP and Chhattisgarh.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey-starrer Chhapaak will release tomorrow, January 10.
