Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was granted bail by a Delhi court in a ₹9 crore cheque bounce case on Wednesday, his lawyer said. The actor was accused in a case involving dishonoured cheques issued in connection with a film production deal.
The court granted bail to Yadav after hearing arguments from his counsel, who contended that the actor was cooperating with the investigation. The judge ordered him to appear before the trial court as and when required.
Yadav’s lawyer said bail was granted on furnishing the required surety bonds and personal guarantees.
The case pertains to dishonour of cheques worth ₹9 crore that were issued in connection with a film production agreement. The complainant alleged that the cheques were issued without sufficient funds and later bounced, amounting to an offence under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
The actor has been cooperating with the probe, and the court observed that he did not attempt to evade the legal process. Yadav will have to appear before the trial court during further stages of the case, his lawyer said.
No comments have been made yet by the complainant’s side.
