Kangana Ranaut demands to know why Priyanka Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh aren’t questioned about their intentions

Kangana Ranaut has called the ongoing farmers’ protests ‘politically motivated’, and demanded to know why she has to prove her patriotism on a regular basis, and others like Priyanka Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh are never questioned about their intentions.

In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, she said, “I had given everyone my word that I will speak about the farmers’ protests once the true motivations are revealed, just like the Shaheen Bagh protests. After the kind of mental and emotional lynching and rape threats I have faced online during these 10-12 days, it’s my right to ask some questions to this country. Since the Prime Minister has made everything clear, there is no scope for any doubts, it has been proven that this entire movement was politically motivated and even terrorists had started participating in it.”

She continued, “I have lived in Punjab… I know 99.9% people of Punjab do not want Khalistan. They don’t want a piece of this country, they belong to India. From Arunachal Pradesh to Maharashtra to Delhi, it’s all theirs. They don’t want a small portion, they all are patriots. I don’t have any complains with terrorists who want to break this country, I understand their feelings. But how do these innocent people let these terrorists play with them. Like the Shaheen Bagh dadi couldn’t read but was protesting to save her citizenship, the dadi from Punjab has been hurling abuses at me and trying to save her land from the government, what is happening in this country? Friends, how do we allow ourselves to be so vulnerable before these terrorists and foreign powers? I have a complaint against you. I have to talk about my intentions every day, a patriot has to clarify so many things. But people like Diljit Dosanjh and Priyanka Chopra, no one asks them about their intentions. What is their policy? When I talk in favour of this country, I am accused of doing politics. Ask them as well what is their policy. Jai Hind.”

‘You’re obsessed with me’, Diljit Dosanjh slams Kangana Ranaut’s ‘provoking’ farmers comment

Tribune Web Desk
Chandigarh, December 17

A few days back, Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana Ranaut were engaged in a Twitter war over the ongoing farmers’ protest in the National Capital Region. Kangana has reignited this feud on Wednesday sharing a series of tweets.

Diljit has also reacted to Kangana’s arguments.

Kangana asked Diljit what precisely was his issue with the laws. She wrote: “@diljitdosanjh ji I am simply asking what exactly you don’t like about the #FarmBills2020 ? For example I like the fact that now farmers can sell their produce any where in the country, just how you can earn money anywhere in the country, I also like the fact they can choose to skip the middle man and sell their products directly to corporates or consumers, everyone feels these are revolutionary steps taken by the government to help miserable condition of farmers in India, then why are you provoking protests? Please help me understand your POV.”

Diljit replied: “Vaise Tan Mainu Lagda Bai Tainu Samjhaiye Yaan Dasiye EH Zaruri Ni (I don’t think I owe you any explanation).. Tu Avi Na authority Bani Jaya Kar Har Gal Ch (stop pretending to be an authority on all matters). Changa (great).. Fer V Sara Din Tu Yaad Kardi rehni an Mainu Pata Lagga (still, you seem to be obsessed with me) .. Ah Ley Kadh Time Fer Sunn Kan Laa Ke (so here you go, take some time out and listen to this)..”

Diljit shared a link to a news report on the issue, in Punjabi.

Diljit signed off with: “CHANGA Fer (alright then)… Saun Lagga.. Avi Na Disappeared Wali News Chala Deo (don’t spread reports that I’ve disappeared, I’m only going to sleep).. Subha Gal Karde an (we’ll talk in the morning) .. BABA SAB DA BHALA KAREY (may Baba bless you all).”

On Wednesday, responding to a news article on Kangana’s tweet targeting him, Diljit tweeted in Punjabi: “Don’t even think that I have disappeared. Who gave her the authority to decide who is a patriot and who is an anti national? Who made her the authority? Have some shame before you label farmers as anti nationals.”

Earlier in the day, Kangana had tweeted a video which seemed to show that farmers are clueless about why they are protesting.

She wrote in Hindi: “I want Diljit Dosanjh and Priyanka Chopra, who are acting as local revolutionaries for the farmers, to make at least one video explaining to the farmers what they have to protest about. Both of them have disappeared after inciting farmers. Look at the state of the farmers and the country!”

“When famous celebrities instigate innocents, incite incidents like the Shaheen Bagh unrest and farmers’ protest, shouldn’t there be an investigation into them or a case filed against them? Is there no punishment for taking part in such anti-national activities?,” she added in another tweet.

Kangana Ranaut targets Diljit Dosanjh, Priyanka Chopra again; asks ‘who will pay for’ losses incurred due to farmers’ protest

Kangana Ranaut attacked Diljit Dosanjh and Priyanka Chopra yet again, for expressing solidarity with the farmers protesting against the new farm bills. She claimed that the protest resulted in a cumulative loss of Rs 70,000 crore and reminded them of the ‘serious consequences’ of their support to the farmers.

“Cost of farmers protests so far 70,000 crores, because of dharna economic slowdown in neighbouring industries and small factories, might lead to riots, @diljitdosanjh and @priyankachopra you understand our actions have serious consequences please tell me who will pay for this?,” she asked on Twitter.

Earlier too, Kangana targeted Diljit and Priyanka, claiming that they were ‘misleading and encouraging’ farmers’ protests, but would be ‘hailed by the left media’ and given awards.

Kangana retweeted pictures of protesting farmers demanding the release of a few activists arrested for allegedly inciting violence and wrote, “Problem is not just them but each and every individual who supports them and opposes #FarmersBill_2020 they are all aware how important this bill is for farmers still they provoke innocent farmers to incite violence, hatred and Bharat Band for their petty gains.”

“People like @diljitdosanjh and @priyankachopra will be hailed by the left media for misleading and encouraging farmers protests, pro Islamists and anti India film industry and brands will flood them with offers and English/living in colonial hangover media houses will felicitate them with awards, the problem is whole system is designed to make anti nationals flourish and grow and we are too less in numbers against a corrupt system, but I am sure magic will happen in every fight of GOOD versus EVIL, evil has been much stronger, JAI SHRI RAM,” she added.

Diljit joined the farmers’ agitation at the Delhi border earlier this month and reportedly donated Rs 1 crore to buy warm clothes for the protestors. Priyanka, meanwhile, extended her support to them on Twitter and wrote, “Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later.”

Does Kangana Ranaut contradict statement that a ‘great artiste is a great person?’ Swara Bhasker weighs in

Actor Swara Bhasker has said that great artistes need not be great human beings in real life. Her comments come after Kangana Ranaut attracted criticism for her opinions about several subjects, and spats with Urmila Matondkar, Jaya Bachchan and Diljit Dosanjh.

In an interview, Swara was asked if Kangana contradicts the statement that ‘a great artist is a great human being’. Swara, in the past, was called a ‘B-grade actor’ by Kangana.

She told IANS, “I think it has nothing to do with Kangana in specific. Yes, in past we had our share of arguments but I think we really need to rethink that statement that one has to be a great human being to be a great artist. We often make this mistake that just because a person is playing a character on screen that is enduring and heroic and because they are great with their craft and are talented, they are the same in real life. No, that does not necessarily mean that they are great human beings in real life. That does not mean that all the heroic quality of an on-screen character is there in the actor, who is performing it.”

Earlier this year, Swara reacted to Kangana’s disparaging remarks against her, and told Pinkvilla in an interview that she supports people’s right to expression. She said she will support it “even if I have to listen to some gaalis”. However, what she cannot get behind is blatant lying. “You shouldn’t lie. You can call me what you want but you shouldn’t lie. To say that I support nepotism is quite frankly a lie,” she said in the interview.

Swara also said that what Kangana said about her — being a B-grade actor and a bootlicker of Karan Johar — reveals her mentality. “In my head, B stands for best. So I am like call me whatever you like. Sometimes what people say reflects more about their mentality than people that they are talking about. And I think that’s what happened with the outsiders and the being B grade actors debate, it’s really just sad. I think people were revealing their own mentality rather than saying anything about me, Taapsee or anyone,” she said.

Kangana had said in an interview with Republic TV, “What I want to convey through this interview is… for me, I have only to lose here… because I know tomorrow they will get some 20 needy outsiders like Taapsee Pannu or Swara Bhasker who will get up and say, ‘Oh! Only Kangana has problems with nepotism. We love Karan Johar’. If you love Karan Johar, why are you both B-grade actresses? You are both better looking than Alia Bhatt and Ananya (Panday). You both are better actresses. Why don’t you get work? Your whole existence is proof of nepotism. What are you telling me about how happy you are with the industry?”

Manikarnika co-director Krish challenges Kangana Ranaut ‘one last time’, says ‘I feared I’ll remain unknown to the world’

Director Krish, who has accused actor Kangana Ranaut of hijacking his film, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, has spoken ‘one last time’ about the controversy. Krish was removed from the film, and Kangana claimed to have reshot significant portions of it, for which she took a co-director credit.

In an appearance on Samantha Akkineni’s talk show, SamJam, Krish was asked about the controversy. “I really want to speak one last time,” he said.

“After Kangana and her team watched the film, I got a call after two days… As a storyteller, I feared I’ll remain unknown to the world. As artists, we can only show it to the world when we get the right opportunities,” Krish said.

In a 2019 interview to SpotboyE, Krish had contested Kangana’s claim that she had shot 70% of the film. “Kangana has done 20-25% of the first half and 10-15% in the second half. I didn’t shoot a song and I didn’t shoot her entry scene. In the second half, she has even re-shot some scenes which I had done in a different way,” he’d said.

He continued, “Kangana even told me that Zee Studios hadn’t liked what I had made. It was looking like a Bhojpuri film. I laughed. People know my previous work. We argued but she wanted her own way. I just couldn’t understand,” adding Kangana was rude over the phone and she “is rude all the time.”

Kangana has been accused of similar interference by writer Apurva Asrani, who accused her of taking over Simran. Director Hansal Mehta, calling his time on the film a “painful memory,” told Huffington Post, “I sometimes wish I never made it. There was no need. It was an unnecessary aberration in my career. It makes me sad, it could’ve been a much better film. It had the potential to be a great film. It used to sadden me but now it’s…It was a painful time. Every day. Beyond that, it’s difficult to speak about it. I don’t even revisit it. There was a time after the film released, I went through a very low phase mentally. Took therapy. The film affected my mental health. I went into a shell, I did not want to meet people. I was in a period of very low self-esteem.”

Kangana Ranaut calls herself ‘hottest target’ in India, claims those attacking her will get films and awards from ‘movie mafia’

Kangana Ranaut feels that she is the ‘hottest target in the country right now’. She claimed in a new tweet that those attacking her will reap a number of benefits, from becoming media darlings to getting roles and awards from the ‘movie mafia’.

In a response to a tweet questioning why certain people ‘have suddenly found love for farmers’ and are ‘uniting against Kangana’, she said, “What you saying ! I am the hottest target in the country right now, target me and you will become media’s favourite, movie mafia will offer you roles, give you movies, filmfare award, shiv Sena tickets every thing. If I were a don you know 72 mulkon ki police mere peeche hoti.”

Recently, Kangana was involved in a Twitter spat with Diljit Dosanjh. It started with him referring to a tweet posted by her on November 27, in which she wrongly identified an old woman at the ongoing farmers’ protest as Bilkis Bano, the face of the Shaheen Bagh protest.

After claiming that Bilkis was ‘available (for hire) in 100 rupees’, Kangana deleted the erroneous tweet. However, Diljit said that one should not spread misinformation and that she ‘keeps on saying anything’.

The fight escalated when Kangana called Diljit ‘Karan Johar ke paltu (Karan Johar’s pet)’ and he hit back at her by questioning whether everyone she has worked with owns her. He also reiterated that he is not from Bollywood but from Punjab. Many from the film industry came out in his support, including Swara Bhasker, Mika Singh and Richa Chadha.

Later, Kangana issued a statement on Twitter saying that she is ‘with farmers’ and claiming that the controversial farm bills will ‘transform (their) lives for better’. She also urged them to not let any separatist groups ‘hijack’ their protests.

Vijender Singh delivers uppercut to Kangana Ranaut for insulting Diljit Dosanjh: ‘Galat panga le liya bhen’

Boxer Vijender Singh leapt into the ring with actor Kangana Ranaut, who was involved in a Twitter feud with singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh on Thursday, about the ongoing farmer protests unfolding across north India. Vijender told Kangana she was has messed with the wrong people.

Responding to a tweet by the Queen actor, Vijender wrote, “Galat panga le liya bhen.” In her tweet, Kangana had called Diljit a ‘pet’ of filmmaker Karan Johar.

“Ooo Karan johar ke paltu, jo dadi Saheen Baag mein apni citizenship keliye protest kar rahi thi wohi Bilkis Bano dadi ji Farmers ke MSP ke liye bhi protest karti hue dikhi. Mahinder Kaur ji ko toh main janti bhi nahin. Kya drama chalaya hai tum logon ne? (Karan Johar’s pet, the grandma who was protesting in Shaheen Bagh for her citizenship, the same grandma was seen protesting with the farmers. I don’t even know who is Mahinder Kaur. What is this new drama?) Stop this right now,” she had written.

Responding to Vijender’s comment, in which he had also included a balled-up fist, she wrote, “Kyun tu bhi Shiv sena banayega ….. bhai (Why, do you also want to make your Shiv Sena)?” Vijender replied, “Wo to ban rakhi hai or kaam bhi acha hi ker rahi hai (The Shiv Sena already exists, and is doing a good job).”

Kangana has been involved in a war-of-words with the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra.

Did Richa Chadha take a dig at Kangana Ranaut with her ‘bikau’ comment in the wake of Diljit Dosanjh feud?

A day after actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s Twitter feud with actor Kangana Ranaut over the farmer protests unfolding across north India, actor Richa Chadha has tweeted a cryptic comment in Punjabi. Richa wrote about ‘sell-outs’ in her statement.

Attaching a GIF of a Sikh boy, she wrote, “Jo apne apne aap nu vechade aa, uhna nu lagda hai sab loki vikau haan (Those who believe everyone is a sell-out are the biggest sell-outs themselves).” Richa’s comment could be seen as a reference to an insult that Kangana had directed towards Diljit on Thursday, when she called him a puppet of filmmaker Karan Johar.

“Ooo Karan johar ke paltu, jo dadi Saheen Baag mein apni citizenship keliye protest kar rahi thi wohi Bilkis Bano dadi ji Farmers ke MSP ke liye bhi protest karti hue dikhi. Mahinder Kaur ji ko toh main janti bhi nahin. Kya drama chalaya hai tum logon ne? (Karan Johar’s pet, the grandma who was protesting in Shaheen Bagh for her citizenship, the same grandma was seen protesting with the farmers. I don’t even know who is Mahinder Kaur. What is this new drama?) Stop this right now,” she had written in a tweet.

Diljit retaliated saying, “Tuneh Jitne Logon Ke Saath Film Ki Tu Un Sab Ki Paaltu Hai…? Fer To List Lambi Ho Jaegi Maalko Ki..? Eh Bollywood Wale Ni PUNJAB Wale aa .. Hikk Te Vajj Sadey Jhooth bol kar logo ko badhkana aur emotions se khailna woh toh aap achey se janti ho (Are you the pet of all the people you have worked with? Then the list of your bosses must be long. This is not Bollywood but Punjab. Manipulating people by lying and playing with their emotions is something you know very well).”

Diljit was supported in his stance by contemporaries such as Swara Bhasker, Mika Singh, and others. Taapsee Pannu, without taking sides, reposted an earlier comment in Gurmukhi. Richa shared the definition of the word ‘sociopath’ and stressed the importance of not messing with Punjabis.

Richa, who had previously been called a ‘jobless actor’ by Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel, spoke about working with the Queen actor in Panga. “Our synergy as actors worked well on-screen. We had a good time and it is not necessary that you make friends on all sets. At the end of the day, we are all here to give in our best,” she told Pinkvilla.
