Pregnant influencer Emily Mitchell dies after being ‘suddenly unresponsive’

Pregnant influencer Emily Mitchell, the creator of the popular The Hidden Way Instagram page and blog, has died aged 36.

Emily was pregnant with her fifth child and was having breakfast, three days before Christmas, when she “suddenly became unresponsive”.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by her family in the wake of her tragic passing, in which her unborn baby also died.

The page detailed that Emily’s husband Joseph, and other family members, did their best to help her as they waited for paramedics to arrive to their home at Rhode Island.

The message on the donation page read: “Our hearts are broken and her joyful presence will be greatly missed by so many. “

The message continued: “Em made a big impact in so many people’s lives, and this loss is incomprehensible for anyone who knew her. Our friend was a dedicated mom and wife, she had a heart for the Lord, and loved her children so dearly.

“We are confident Em is now in perfect fellowship with God.”

The page also shared that doctors are still “working on answers for her family” when it comes to a cause of death, which has not been publicly revealed as yet.

Before her passing, Emily had been sharing updates throughout her pregnancy on The Hidden Way as she wrote about how excited she was to adding to her brood.

On November 19, Emily posted a photo of herself with husband Joseph as she held up an ultrasound photo.

She captioned the joyous pic: “Number FIVE comin in hot and we are here for it. Eleven weeks 2 days and counting.”

A week later, Emily shared a photo of her cradling the growing baby bump, while surrounded by fallen leaves as autumn turned to winter.

She wrote: “Thirteen weeks tomorrow — sleeping like a legit fat and furry hibernating bear (read into that what you will lol), sniffing peppermint like it’s my job, craving thanksgiving leftovers, and finding out boy or girl possibly THIS WEEK.

“Should I try those old wives gender tests in stories??? I’m thinking I may need to…⁣”

Just a couple of weeks before her passing, the couple named their unborn baby, with the name Joey being revealed in an obituary to the influencer after her sudden death.

On December 8, Emily revealed that she would be heading for a fifth delivery via cesarean section.

She wrote: “This will be my FIFTH C-Section. However your baby gets here, just know YOUR EXPERIENCE is valid and worthy.

“YOU are no less a mother if you needed emergency medical intervention, had a planned c-section, or an epidural.

“You aren’t a ‘better’ mother if you had a home birth or an unmedicated vaginal birth.

“And if you grew your brood through adoption or surrogacy or family blending?

“Those are YOUR babies and YOU SIT PROUDLY at the table of motherhood.⁣”

Dani Dyer says she had a Holby City audition before coronavirus lockdown hit

Dani Dyer has revealed how she was supposed to be auditioning for a part in Holby City before the coronavirus pandemic sent the country into lockdown in March.

The former Love Island star, who is expecting her first baby, said it has been her dream to follow her award-winning soap star dad Danny Dyer into the world of acting.

Reflecting on the highs and lows of this year, Dani revealed things could have been very different if she’d had the chance to pursue her dream.

“I would love to get into [acting] again,” she admitted on family podcast Sorted with the Dyers.

Dani said she was gearing up for an audition with Holby City before lockdown happened

“I remember I always wanted to go into Holby. Then I got the audition for Holby, and I was going to go on that and then lockdown happened.

“I do want to get into something like that,” she went on. “I’d enjoy that – I don’t want to go on reality shows, I don’t want to do that, they don’t excite me. It doesn’t make my heart skip a beat.

“Reality stars, they do incredibly, but do I want to go down the route where I share my whole life?” she asked.

Her dad replied: “Ideally me and you doing something together on an acting format would be nice.”

“That would be beautiful,” agreed Dani.

Danny Dyer’s historic child abuse storyline on EastEnders has kept viewers gripped over the last few weeks

“I’ve still got the pathway to go down an acting route if I wanted to, but if I start going on this show and that show, and all that crap, it will not do me any favours. I’m in a good position right now, I’m having a baby, and then I’m going to definitely go down a route where it’s credible.

“I’m so lucky – I know I am,” she admitted.

After winning Love Island with Jack Fincham, Dani opened up her home and her private life to the cameras again for their joint ITV reality show Life After Love Island.

Dani and Jack starred in their own show Life After Love Island

The couple split weeks after.

After previously vowing she’d never do another reality TV show again, Dani said: “Some people want to be on TV, wanna portray their life and show what they want to do, but my heart’s not in that. I tried that when I came off Love Island and did my own show, and I was so sad because it just wasn’t my thing. Opening the door of a morning, nothing to fill my life, it just didn’t work for me. Some people are brilliant at it and thrive off it.”

Her dad Danny, who plays Mick Carter in EastEndes said once you let the cameras in ‘I fear you’re signing your life away to the devil.’

“And once they’re in they are never going,” Dani mused.

Despite putting her acting dreams on hold for now, Dani is excitedly awaiting the birth of her first child with Sammy Kimmence – which is due early in 2021.

“Like I just feel like I’m in this groundhog day, weird place. And look we’ve got all the bags by the door here, and then we’ve got like the car seat and the pillow here cos we were so sure it was happening on Boxing Day.

Kourtney Kardashian sparks pregnancy rumours with ‘baby bump’ bikini pics

Kourtney Kardashian has sent her fans wild with a bikini snap on Instagram but it isn’t her sizzling pic that has whipped them up into a frenzy.

The photo from a holiday in Mexico has fuelled the belief that she is expecting her fourth child, despite the pic being a throwback from the summer.

Kourtney is seen posing with her children while on the family getaway to Cabo San Lucas as she wears a tiny pink bikini.

Her posture seems to accentuate her usually toned stomach, giving the appearance that she may be in the early stages of pregnancy.

The 41-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star captioned the post: “Little Cabo daydream.”

Kourtney Kardashian sparks pregnancy rumours with new bikini pictures

There was only one subject that dominated the comments and that was speculation about Kourtney being with child.

One fan exclaimed in the comments: “Does anyone else see a baby bump or am I crazy?”

Another excitedly asked: “Wait so she’s preggo????????”

A third simply added: “Babie 4.”

While fans “hoped” that Kourtney was pregnant, it has been reported that this might be far from the mark.

The photos are thought to be a throwback to the summer and recent photos of the reality star do not show her heavy with a baby bump.

Kourtney Kardashian posted throwback pics from her Mexican holiday

In fact, eagle-eyed fans have pointed to pics from the Kardashian’s Christmas Eve party, in which Kourtney is seen drinking from a cocktail glass.

It was then counter-argued that there is no proof that it was alcoholic and may have been a fruit ‘mocktail’.

One fan asked Kourtney outright: “You’re pregnant. Right?”

Kourtney has yet to respond this time but has ruled out being pregnant previously during the lockdown, after it was levelled at her before.

Conceived and born in the midst of a pandemic: how COVID-19 transformed pregnancy

The babies born this month were conceived in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the case of Michelle Farrugia’s newborn, who lived her entire pregnancy in the era of the novel coronavirus.

The young woman was on vacation in the Dominican Republic with her husband when the health crisis hit in March. The couple rushed back to Bowmanville, Ont., As the number of infections began to climb around the world.

Shortly after, amid the turmoil and stress of the first days of the pandemic, Michelle Farrugia discovered she was pregnant with their first child. “We were so excited, then reality caught up with us, ‘Oh my god! I’m going to be pregnant during a pandemic, ”she recalls.

“We absolutely didn’t think we would be in there again nine months later. “

She and her husband welcomed little Nolan James Weldon on December 3, about a week ahead of schedule.

Not all pregnancies have been as fortunate as hers to be spared from COVID-19. Canada has recorded more than 2,000 infections among pregnant people since March.

Preliminary results from a national survey show that those affected during pregnancy were at an increased risk of hospitalization (11 compared to other women in the same age groups. The survey also found that 15% of babies from Women who contracted COVID-19 in Canada were born prematurely, about double the national average.

Serious complications are rare, says Dr. Deborah Money, who is leading the research project. Most pregnant people who contract COVID-19 have mild symptoms and then recover well, reports the professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of British Columbia.

Part of the hospitalizations could be explained by caution, she argues, with pregnant people more likely to be admitted to hospital when something goes wrong.

It is also not surprising to see more severe forms of the disease in them, because other respiratory viruses also behave this way. “It is believed to be probably a combination of changes in the immune response and physiological changes associated with pregnancy,” says Dr. Money. And later in pregnancy, there is somewhat limited lung capacity when the uterus is pressing up there. “

It is also rare for a baby to contract COVID-19, either in the womb or soon after birth, although this is not unheard of. A newborn baby tested positive in Calgary in November, and spent two weeks recovering in hospital.

Fortunately, Michelle Farrugia didn’t have to worry about all of this, but the pandemic context still had an impact on her pregnancy.

Medical appointments could rarely be done in person at the onset of the seizure, unless a higher risk of complications was demonstrated. And when appointments with physical presence were necessary, these were held with faces covered and in a distanced manner. Some jurisdictions required patients to be limited to one attendant, while others required them to come alone.

Michelle Farrugia had a telehealth appointment with her GP after having a home pregnancy test on April 1, but she did not see a healthcare professional until her first ultrasound, at 12 weeks. Not knowing how her baby was initially was an anxiety for her.

“You find out you’re pregnant, but you can’t be examined instantly to see if there’s a heartbeat or whatever,” she recalls. So we just try to take care of our body and hope that everything is going well. “

Her husband was with her at the time of the delivery, but no visitors were allowed to the hospital. With the birth of their boy so close to Christmas, Michelle Farrugia says she is disappointed not to be able to mark her son’s first holiday season alongside his family.

Cristina Pereira of Brampton, Ont., Had a similar experience. Her second child was born on Sunday by planned cesarean section. She couldn’t celebrate the birth of little Claudia with her family like she did for her son Samuel three years ago.

Concerned about the health of her family and deprived of social life, she says it was taxing living her third trimester in a hot area – one neighborhood in Brampton recorded a positivity rate of almost 20% last month.

Cristina Pereira says she went through her second pregnancy in solitary confinement, and now she wonders what her maternity leave has in store for her, in full confinement. “I can’t join moms groups or extracurricular activities for my kids and my own well-being. “

Dr. Vanessa Poliquin, obstetrician-gynecologist and assistant professor at the University of Manitoba, says social isolation raises concerns for prenatal and postnatal mental health. She reminds her patients to take care of themselves and urges them to use virtual platforms as much as possible to interact with their support network.

When it comes to COVID-19 treatments or vaccines, pregnant people have largely been kept out of clinical trials, making it harder for healthcare organizations to crack the data against this group Population.

The Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) recently released a statement that “the known risk of not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine outweighs the theoretical unstudied risk of getting the vaccine during pregnancy or breastfeeding ”for people at high risk of infection or disease. These recommendations may, however, be called upon to evolve “as more evidence becomes available”.

As Dr. Poliquin notes, “Pregnancy and being a new parent for a little human is stressful at its best, but it’s exacerbated now.”

Big Story Coronavirus COVID-19

EU nations eagerly kick off mass Covid-19 vaccinations

European Union nations kicked off a coordinated effort on Sunday to give COVID-19 vaccinations to the most vulnerable among the bloc’s nearly 450 million people, marking a moment of hope in the continent’s battle against the worst public health crisis in a century.

Health care workers, the elderly and leading politicians got some of the first shots across the 27-nation bloc to reassure the public that the vaccinations are safe and represent the best chance to emerge from the pandemic.

“It didn’t hurt at all,” said Mihaela Anghel, a nurse at the Matei Bals Institute in Bucharest who was the first person to get the vaccine in Romania. “Open your eyes and take the vaccine.” In Rome, five doctors and nurses wearing white scrubs sat in a semi-circle at the Spallanzani infectious diseases hospital to receive their doses.

“The message is one of hope, trust and an invitation to share this choice,” said one of the recipients, Dr Maria Rosaria Capobianchi, who heads the virology laboratory at Spallanzani and was part of the team that isolated the virus in early February. “There is no reason to be concerned.” Italian virus czar Domenico Arcuri said it was significant that Italy’s first vaccine doses were administered at Spallanzani, where a Chinese couple visiting from Wuhan tested positive in January and became Italy’s first confirmed cases. Only later would northern Lombardy become the epicentre of the outbreak in Europe. Italy now has the continent’s worst confirmed virus death toll at nearly 72,000.

“Today is a beautiful, symbolic day: All the citizens of Europe together are starting to get their vaccinations, the first ray of light after a long night,” Arcuri told reporters outside the hospital.

But he cautioned: “We all have to continue to be prudent, cautious and responsible. We still have a long road ahead, but finally we see a bit of light.” The vaccines, developed by Germany’s BioNTech and American drugmaker Pfizer, started arriving in super-cold containers at EU hospitals on Friday from a factory in Belgium.

In the Los Olmos nursing home in the Spanish city of Guadalajara, northeast of Madrid, a 96-year-old resident and a caregiver were the first Spaniards to receive the vaccine.

“Let’s see if we can all behave and make this virus go away,” said Araceli Hidalgo, the elderly resident, after receiving her injection.

The Czech Republic was spared the worst of the pandemic in the spring only to see its health care system near collapse in the fall. In Prague, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis received his shot at dawn Sunday and asserted: “There’s nothing to worry about.” Sitting next to him in a wheelchair was World War II veteran Emilie Repikova, who also received the shot.

Altogether, the EU’s 27 nations have recorded at least 16 million coronavirus infections and more than 336,000 deaths — huge numbers that experts still agree understate the true toll of the pandemic due to missed cases and limited testing.

All those getting shots will have to come back in three weeks for a second dose.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen released a video Saturday celebrating the vaccine rollout, calling it “a touching moment of unity.” The vaccination campaign should ease frustrations that were building up, especially in Germany, as Britain, Canada and the United States kicked off their inoculation programs with the same vaccine weeks earlier.

As it turned out, some EU immunizations began a day early in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia. The operator of a German nursing home where dozens of people were vaccinated Saturday, including a 101-year-old woman, said “every day that we wait is one day too many.” Each EU country is deciding on its own who will get the first shots, with most vowing to put the elderly and residents in nursing homes first.

EU leaders are counting on the vaccine rollout to help the bloc project a sense of unity in a complex lifesaving mission after it faced a year of difficulties in negotiating a post-Brexit trade deal with Britain.

“It’s here — the good news at Christmas,” said German Health Minister Jens Spahn. “This vaccine is the decisive key to end this pandemic … it is the key to getting our lives back.” Among the politicians who planned to get virus shots on Sunday to promote a wider acceptance of vaccinations were Slovakian President Zuzana Caputova and Bulgarian Health Minister Kostadin Angelov.

Meanwhile, the first cases of a new virus variant that has been spreading rapidly around London and southern England have now been detected in France and Spain. The new variant, which British authorities said is much more easily transmitted, has caused European countries, the United States and China to put new restrictions on travel for people from Britain.

Japan became the latest country to act, announcing it would temporarily ban all non-resident foreigners from entering through Jan. 31 as a precaution against the UK’s new variant.

Germany’s BioNTech has said it’s confident that its coronavirus vaccine works against the new UK variant, but added that further studies are needed to be completely certain.

The European Medicines Agency on January 6 will consider approving a second coronavirus vaccine, this one by Moderna, which is already being used in the United States.
