Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a special appeal to the North Eastern states as well as non-BJP ruled states regarding the National Population Register (NPR). He said on Monday that you should read this law thoroughly before implementing it in your state, only then should you reach a conclusion about implementing it. He said that NPR is a dangerous sport and it is completely related to NRC and CAA. States should pass a resolution to return it. Mamta Banerjee said these things in a meeting held in the state regarding NPR.

New Delhi: There is a debate in the country about the National Register of Citizens (NRC). There is a fear in the minority community that the Central Government has amended the Citizenship Act (CAA) only to implement the NRC. The National Population Register (NPR) is also being linked to this. Protests are taking place across the country against the CAA. The Kerala and Punjab governments have also passed resolutions in the assembly against this law. The governments of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan have also spoken of not implementing it in their state.
