War Memorial will be ready at Remount and Veterinary Corps Central and College, Meerut
The names of 300 dogs, 350 of their handlers, some horses and mules will be written in it.

New Delhi. For the first time in a war memorial, the names of animals who lost their lives will be recorded. The memorial will be built at the Remount and Veterinary Corps (RVC) Central and College, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Names of 300 dogs, 350 of their handlers, some horses and mules will be written here.

The ground and preliminary design for the memorial have already been decided. The memorial will commemorate the animals who lost their lives during operations and Kargil war against the terrorists in Kashmir and elsewhere. According to media reports, all kinds of information including the animal’s name, service number will be available on the memorial. According to the media report, officials claimed that the memorial will be ready at the Remount and Veterinary Corps (RVC) Center and College in Meerut, just like the National Warremorial of Delhi. 5 dogs honored on 2020 Army Day
According to Army Dog Unit officials, more than 25 dogs have been lost in counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir and the Northeast. The army currently serves 1000 dogs, 5000 mules and around 1500 horses. On the occasion of Army Day 2020, 5 Labradors were awarded commandation cards.

Mansi name on top
Mansi (a female dog of a Labrador species), who played a special role in counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir, was awarded the Army honor in 2016. Her name tops the list of animals. Mansi’s handler Bashir Ahmadco has also found a place.
