Kym Marsh defends Katie Price after she’s slammed for putting makeup on Princess

Kym Marsh has defended Katie Price for putting makeup on her 13-year-old daughter Princess.

The former glamour model, 42, was slapped with lots of criticism from angry fans who slammed her for letting the teen get a full makeover at home.

But former Corrie star Kym, 44, hit back at the critics, saying it’s normal for a teenager to experiment with her look.

In her OK! mag column, Kym penned: “I saw that Katie Price came under fire for allowing her 13-year-old daughter Princess to get her hair and make-up done.

“She did look very grown-up, but maybe people are forgetting she’s a teenager and experimenting with your look is very normal at that age.”

Kym Marsh has defended Katie Price

Mum-of-three Kym, who has daughters Emily, 23, and Polly, nine, as well as 25-year-old son David, admitted she experimented with makeup as a teen at school.

“I was sneaking in make-up to wear at school at about 14, and my eldest daughter Emilie started playing with it around the same age,” she recalled.

“I’m happy for my daughter Polly to dress up and play, as long as it’s in the comfort of our own home and around family and friends.”

Katie was hit with a lot of backlash for putting a full face of makeup on Princess, 13

Last week, Katie – who shares Princess and son Junior with ex-husband Peter Andre – stunned fans after sharing a series of snaps showing Princess with a jaw-dropping makeover.

The 13-year-old girl looked far older than her years with straightened hair, false eyelashes and a full face of makeup.

Former glamour model Katie gushed over her teen girl and bragged the blonde beauty is her “mini-me”.

Katie even went on to edit Princess’ face with a filter on Instagram

But despite the heavy makeup – including full eyebrows, smoky eyeshadow and glossy lips – Katie still edited Princess’ face by using a filter on her Instagram video.

“Like mother like daughter,” she captioned the Boomerang clip, which showed her flicking her own straightened locks as she pouted at the camera before showing Princess copy her mum with her own kissing-face pose.

EastEnders’ Jack Ryder now – cheating Kym Marsh divorce and exit controversy

EastEnders actor Jack Ryder was labelled the Square’s “ultimate bit of cockney totty” in the late 90s.

The teenage heartthrob joined EastEnders in 1998 as Phil Mitchell’s young cousin, Jamie, who had a rather harrowing back story after being abused by his uncle Billy.

The EastEnders cast dubbed Jack “a mini David Beckham” due to his trademark floppy blond curtains.

Jack was embroiled in some explosive storylines during four years on the soap – and his own personal life was just as dramatic after he left.

It was Jack’s decision to leave EastEnders in 2002 when his contract ended, admitting it had not been an easy decision but he wanted to pursue other projects.

But scandal followed before his final scenes even aired, as Jack claimed he was originally told the door would be left open for a possible return in the future.

What actually happened was one of the most tragic deaths in all of soap history.

Jack Ryder was labelled a ‘mini David Beckham’ thanks to his trademark curtains

It had been agreed with then Executive Producer John Yorke that Jamie would go off into the sunset, but new boss Louise Berridge decided to kill Jamie off in a more gripping stoyline.

On Christmas Day in 2002, Jamie was accidentally knocked down by Martin Fowler in a horror car smash.

Jack’s final scenes on the soap left millions in floods of tears as Jamie died in hospital with fiancee Sonia Fowler and uncle Phil Mitchell at his deathbed.

Jack confessed he was surprised by the controversial decision to kill off his beloved character.

“I was a bit shocked by their decision,” he told The Mirror in December 2002.

Jamie died in devastated Sonia’s arms

“When I said he was going to leave, they said they would keep the door open. Then Louise took over as producer and they said they wanted a good exit.

“It didn’t really matter either way to me. I wasn’t planning on coming back. At the end of the day, it’s their choice.

“They hired me. Jamie was always having an affair or another fight with Phil and I didn’t want to be in a soap for the rest of my life.”

The rest of the EastEnders cast were heartbroken, and were still speaking about Jack’s departure during a compilation of greatest exits in 2011.

Admitting the nation mourned Jamie’s death, EastEnders star Joe Swash added: “Not only that but there was probably about 25 million girls out there, breaking their hearts because they all loved Jack Ryder.”

Jack Ryder and Kym Marsh started dating

After leaving EastEnders, Jack won Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes by performing as Justin Timberlake and appeared in the pantomime Sleeping Beauty.

Away from his acting career, Jack started going out with Hear’Say singer Kym Marsh, who could not believe she was with the heartthrob.

“When I spotted him I told Myleene Klass, ‘He’s quite cute – except he looks about 12,” confessed Kym in her autobiography From the Heart.

“We chatted and he was flirting with me. I kinda liked him too. He had a very honest face and I could sense something between us.

“A few months earlier I’d been a single mum who spent her evenings ironing. Now I was being texted by the hottest soap star in the country.”

The pair married in August 2002 and settled in St Albans, but with Kym wanting roles in the north-west and to be closer to her family they moved up to Manchester in 2004.

The pair were married in 2002, but divorced in 2009

Kym got the role of Michelle Connor on Coronation Street in 2006, but just two years later their relationship was over.

They announced they were separating in 2008, issuing a statement which said no one else was involved in the break-up and they would “remain friends”.

However, the actress sensationally admitted to cheating on Jack in their divorce papers.

Jack was granted a decree nisi on the grounds that the marriage had broken down irretrievably as a result of her affair with fellow soap star Jamie Lomas, who plays Warren Fox on Hollyoaks.

Court papers detailed Jack as saying that he first found out about her adultery in July 2008.

He wrote that his wife “has admitted that she has committed adultery, which is ongoing”.

In reply to a question asking if she admitted to the alleged adultery, Kym simply replied: “Yes.”

Jack was back on our screen as Evan Crowhurst on Holby City

Jack’s career certainly didn’t suffer, as the actor played the role of Laurence in the West End production of Calendar Girls in 2009, as well as being the assistant director.

He wrote and directed his own short film in 2010, then became the Associate Director of the stage version of the Full Monty in 2013.

Jack was also handpicked by Gary Barlow to be assistant director on his West End musical in 2017.

After turning his hand to directing, Jack went back to acting in Kay Mellor drama In The Club and shocked Holby City viewers when he rocked up in 2018.

Many were stunned by Jack’s dramatic transformation and claimed he looked totally unrecognisable from his EastEnders days,

And Jack stunned more fans with his new look during an appearance on Loose Women in May this year.

Jack Ryder appeared on Loose Women this year

Jack spoke about his new children’s book and the happy news that his wife Ella is expecting a baby.

“We are due in July. Ella and I are gushy and over the moon. I always just smile when I talk about it,” said beaming Jack.

“We’re prepared as we can be, but we’ve got toys all around the place and clothes and bits and pieces. Yeah, we’re ready to go.

“We’re very humbled and grateful. It’s going to be an amazing journey.”

Having ditched his trademark blonde curtains, Jack discussed how he feels about leaving EastEnders now.

“On one side of the coin it’s gone so quickly, but then so much has happened since then,” admitted Jack.

“It’s bizarre seeing that last episode. It was a sad end for the character.”

Kym Marsh bans daughter Polly, 9, from Instagram over trolling fears

Kym Marsh has revealed that she’s banned her nine-year-old daughter Polly from using Instagram.

The former Coronation Street actress, 44, has followed in the footsteps of Hollywood actress Nicola Kidman who forbid her children from using social media until they reach an appropriate age.

Big Little Lies star Nicole revealed that she’s put a stop to her daughters Sunday, 12, and Faith, nine, creating profiles on various sites over concerns it will harm their perception of themselves and the wider world.

Now, Kym has said that she wholeheartedly agrees with the Hollywood star’s approach and is copying her strict parenting rule.

The proud mum-of-three has shared her thoughts about the matter in her most recent OK! Magazine column.

Kym Marsh has revealed that she’s banned her nine-year-old daughter Polly from using Instagram

Kym explained: “Nicole was reluctant to let her children join as she can’t easily monitor technology.

“I have to say that I agree. Instagram’s age restriction is 13 and older and I believe that’s there for a reason.”

The actress, who shares Polly with ex-husband Jamie Lomas, revealed that they sat down to discuss their daughter’s social media journey.

Kym doesn’t want Polly using social media until she’s old enough

“Polly’s dad and I always say we don’t want her joining social media until she’s old enough – and even then, I’d want her to be private and only follow friends and family,” the former soap star explained.

“There’s so much content on the internet that children see nowadays.

“They are exposed to so much and as a parent it can feel hard to censor it all and keep them safe which can be worrying.”

Polly’s parents Kym and Jamie also welcomed baby boy Archie in February 2009 but their precious boy died tragically just moments after birth.

Kym shares Polly with ex-husband Jamie

Little Archie had been born 21 weeks and five days early.

Kym recently shared her heartache over friends not attending the funeral because they felt they couldn’t “cope”.

She said on her new BBC show Morning Live: “I had almost got to the point where I wasn’t accepting anything yet, but equally, I found that people didn’t know what to say to me or how to talk to me, so, therefore, avoided that completely.

Kym lost her baby boy Archie in 2009

“Some people didn’t want to come to his funeral because they felt…they just couldn’t cope with such a small baby’s funeral.

“They felt really difficult, it was a difficult thing for them.”

Kym also has two grown up children David, 25, and Emily, 23, who she shares with former partner Dave Cunliffe.

Alison King told devastated Kym Marsh she felt “immense guilt” about giving birth on the same day she lost her son.

It’s 11 years since Coronation Street beauty Kym grieved the loss of her baby Archie in February 2009.

He tragically died moments after he had been born, 21 weeks and five days too early.

The 44-year-old actress revealed her close friend Alison’s incredible torment about giving birth to her healthy daughter Daisy on the very same day.

Kym says her co-star couldn’t properly enjoy the moment because of the suffering she knew her pal was going through.

The former co-stars are close friends – but 2009 was a tragic time

“My friend Alison King, a really good friend, of mine gave birth to her daughter on the very same day that I lost my son – literally hours apart,” she said on her new BBC show Morning Live.

“And the immense guilt that she felt at the fact that she’d delivered her baby so safely and I’d lost my son, was such a hard time for both of us.”

Kym has two grown up children David, 25, and Emily, 23, who she shares with former partner Dave Cunliffe.

“I’ll light a candle for Archie, and I’ll send her a picture, and she’ll send me a picture of Daisy.”

Looking back, the actress admitted initially she didn’t want to talk about her heartache because then “it would be real”.

Kym has been chatting on her new show

Her friend was riddled with guilt – but they bonded over the situation

“When I lost my son, Archie, 11 years ago now and I lost him quite late in my pregnancy,” she added.

“I personally didn’t want to talk about it initially, because I felt that if I talked about it, it would be real.

“Some people didn’t want to come to his funeral because they felt – they just couldn’t cope with such a small baby’s funeral.

“They felt really difficult, it was a difficult thing for them.”

Kym Marsh’s fans desperate to copy her stunning new haircut

Kym Marsh’s new hair is seemingly sending her fans into a frenzy as they rush to book a hairdresser’s appointment.

The former Coronation Street star debuted her new look on BBC show Morning Live yesterday, and her fans are besotted.

So much so that they’re dying to copy it, reports Manchester Evening News.

The actress looks stunning with her shorter chocolate coloured tresses and caramel highlights.

Forget ‘The Rachel’ cut from the 90s inspired by Jennifer Aniston in Friends, fans are saying they want ‘The Kym’ cut.

Her stylist friend Martine Alexander told Kym’s hairdresser on Instagram : “I can’t be held responsible if I get ‘The Kym’ cut tomorrow @vincent_allenby.”

Kym’s new hair is stunning

“Looks great! I was thinking of taking mine shorter seeing your new haircut has convinced me!” said another follower.

Another Instagram follower told the soap star that it’s a ‘stunning and sophisticated look.’

“Gorgeous!!! This length really suits you!!!” praised another.

The shorter style reminds fans of when Kym first arrived on Coronation Street as Michelle Connor in 2006.

“Love it, it suits you shorter,” said one.

She usually has much longer hair

“I always liked it when you had the bob when you were first behind the bar at the Rovers Return. Always looks so healthy.”

Kym, 44, is hosting the BBC’s new breakfast show Morning Live with Gethin Jones, and after her first day on Monday she said she’d had a ‘blast.’

“Well….yesterday was an absolute blast!!!” she told her Instagram followers.

“Thank you for all of your support on our first show.”

She’s presenting Morning Live with Gethin Jones

The actress left the famous cobbles last year and has since been working on the new series of Kay Mellor’s The Syndicate about a group of people whose lives change when they win the lottery and has been spotted filming on location with the show in Burley in Wharfedale in West Yorkshire.

She has been sitting in the hot seat as a guest presenter on The One Show and also hosted the BBC One consumer show Your Money and Your Life with Watchdog and Rogue Traders presenter Matt Allwright.

And she recently shared a socially distanced behind-the-scenes photo of herself working with Crime+Investigation UK, a documentary channel exploring real crime.

More than 100 birdwatchers descend on Norfolk salt marsh to catch glimpse of rare rufous bush chat

So is THAT what all the fuss was about? More than 100 birdwatchers descend on Norfolk salt marsh to catch glimpse of a rufous bush chat that has not been seen in UK for 40 years

  •  The rare species was last observed in UK at Prawle Point in Devon, in 1980
  •  Rufous bush chat is more used to spending its winters in Africa and Asia
  •  Bird expert Dick Filby believes the bird may have ‘gone the wrong way’
  •  Norfolk Police issued a warning after crowds flocked to observe the bird

Unlike other exotic birds with their vibrant plumage and striking songs, this one just has pale brown feathers and a thrush-like trill described as having a sad tone.

Yet bird lovers are still all of aflutter, because the rufous bush chat has not been seen on UK shores for 40 years – until now.

More than 100 birdwatchers have already descended on Stiffkey, north Norfolk, with binoculars at the ready to catch a glimpse of the rare species, which is more used to spending its winters in Africa and Asia, rather than the much colder climes of British salt marshes.

The rufous-tailed scrub robin has been spotted in Britain for the first time in 40 years in Norfolk

Also known as the rufous warbler and rufous bush robin, the bird is more commonly seen in southern Spain, Africa and the Balkans.

The last time a rufous bush chat was recorded in Britain was at Prawle Point in Devon, in 1980.

Dick Filby, of Rare Bird Alert, told bbc.co.uk the bird ‘would have been heading for a tropical climate and went the wrong way.’

Those who were lucky enough to spy  the bird for themselves have been busy posting their pictures – and most appropriately – tweeting about it.

Paul Nobbs @Fenlandbirding wrote on Twitter:  ‘Just got lucky with the Rufous Bush Chat. Popped up in front of me away from the main crowd!’

Meanwhile, nature lover Craig Reed @MidlandsBirder posted: ‘Lucky to be 15 minutes away when the ‘Eastern’ Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin was found yesterday.

‘The quickest re-route in history and we were watching it soon after. After a couple of flight views, awesome views as it fed at the edge of the field to a well spaced crowd.’

What is the Rufous Bush Chat?

Rufous bush chat

Rufous bush chat

Also known as the rufous-tailed scrub robin and rufous bush robin

Breeds around Mediterranean and east to Pakstan

Winters in east Africa and India

Very rarely seen in northern Europe

Builds nest in a bush, with three to five eggs in a clutch

Larger than the European robin, it has brown upperparts and whitish underparts and a prominent white eyestripe

The tail is long and frequently fanned, showing black and white tips

Brian Martin @BrianSmrtyr1 also expressed his surprise at seeing one so close to home. He wrote: ‘I have hoped to find one of these when I was in Spain, but never expected to see one in the UK – a Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin at Stiffkey yesterday afternoon.’

While acknowledging this rare event on British shores has caused excitement among nature lovers, Norfolk police has issued a warning against crowds gathering at the location and for people to maintain Covid safety guidelines.

Chief Superintendent Chris Balmer said: ‘We would ask that people do not continue to attend the location as we have had to remind many of the Covid regulations.

‘People may arrive on their own, but some have started to gather in groups larger than six to be able to see the bird.

‘This is a breach of the law. In the first instance, officers will engage, explain and encourage people to leave, but enforcement is an option and we will be issuing fixed penalty notices should people not comply.

‘We want everyone in Norfolk to remain safe and this means everyone needs to adhere to the regulations.’

The bird, which is larger than the European robin and sports a long tail, prefers dry open country with bushes and shrubs and builds its nest a few feet off the ground in bushes, tree stumps or other concealed places.

The rufous-tailed scrub robin inhabits dry open country with bushes and shrubs and feeds on insects such as beetles, grasshoppers, the larvae of butterflies and moths, and earthworms.

Jodie Marsh’s heartbreak as she lays mum to rest in socially distanced funeral

Jodie Marsh sobbed as she paid tribute to her “fierce, loyal, kind and ridiculously clever” mum in a heartbreaking eulogy at her funeral.

The former glamour model’s mum Kristina Marsh died in September after battling an aggressive form of cancer, and had “faded fast” after being “turfed out of hospital” during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

At her funeral yesterday, Jodie stood in front of the small number of permitted mourners – who had to socially distance inside the chapel – to lay her mum to rest.

Thanking her musician boyfriend Billy Collins-Nuttall for giving her strength, Jodie told the small crowd: “She adored Billy and Billy adored her, they had their own unique bond and I take great comfort from that.

Jodie Marsh wept as she gave her mum’s eulogy at the socially distanced funeral

“Mostly, though, I take comfort from the fact Mum finally got to see me truly happy and in love. It was all she ever wanted for me and I’m so grateful that she got to know and love Billy.

“I know that she knew Billy would be there for me and take care of me, and I know she knew that Billy is the one I’ve been waiting all my life for.”

Jodie paused to control her breathing and fought back years as she continued: “I want to include this quote a friend gave me recently. ‘On the darkest day when I feel inadequate, unloved and unworthy, I remember whose daughter I am and I straighten my crown.’

The funeral had been customised to fit Kristina’s vibrant personality

Jodie and her friend made goody bags full of Kristina’s favourite things for the mourners to take home

“My mum was fearless, loyal, brave, hard-working, kind, supportive, stylish, beautiful, elegant, classy and so ridiculously clever. In Alison’s words, Mum was outwardly a stunningly beautiful serene swan, but so so powerful underneath.”

The model added: “What I’ve learned from Mum is always believe in yourself, to never give up, to love with all your heart, to always be kind and to enjoy life as much as you possibly can.

“My mum was genuinely the most beautiful soul that ever lived. And that leads me perfectly into our first song, this song was written by my amazing partner Billy. He wrote it for Mum and Dad as their Christmas present last year and it’s the story of their love.”

Jodie’s family had included Kristina in every detail

Jodie couldn’t hold in her emotions as she spoke about her beautiful mum

Jodie also shared pictures of her mum’s flower-festooned casket, which was decorated in Kristina’s favourite pink, and of the pallbearers all wearing masks in the matching colour.

“All the boys did so amazing today but Billy did me so proud,” she captioned one snap.

“Billy and Colin (our best friend) were asked by dad to carry mum in with my dad and brother and Billy has been so stressed about it. It’s the biggest honour you can do for someone – carry them in – I think. And though Billy felt so honoured and privileged, he was so scared of messing up.”

Jodie’s mum Kristina died in September

She went on: “I am so so so proud of him and I love him so much. He was literally amazing and so strong. Mum loved him so much and I’m so happy he was able to do this for her. He’s been my rock throughout all of her illness and now this. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for him.”

Jodie and Billy cared for her mum at home throughout the pandemic, when Kristina was dying from an aggressive form of cancer.

They desperately tried alternative treatments including cannabis oil and an alkaline diet while waiting for Kristina’s hospital treatment to restart, but sadly she slipped away quickly.
