He linked the violence last month on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to religion. Khamnai has said that Muslims are in danger in view of the current situation in India. At present, there has been no response from India in this matter, but Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted and thanked Khamnai and attacked the Modi government for Kashmiri Muslims.
