David and Victoria Beckham declare ‘thank god it’s over’ in look back over year

David and Victoria Beckham have posted video highlights from the past 12 months as they say goodbye to 2020.

The couple both shared separate retrospective looks at how their year panned out, highlighting some of the happy times they have had.

Despite it looking like they have had a fantastic time, Victoria joined much of the nation in sharing the sentiment “thank god it’s over”, in what seems a reference to the coronavirus pandemic that has changed so many people’s lives.

The 46-year-old fashion designer’s snippets include a PDA moment on the dancefloor with David, in which they hold each other tightly, and the photo used to announce her son Brooklyn Beckham’s engagement to Nicola Peltz.

David and Victoria Beckham have shared a new year message

With Stevie Wonder’s ‘For Once In My Life’ playing over the compilation, Victoria captioned the post: “Happy New Year!! And thank god it’s over! it’s been a very different year (and a very different Christmas) for so many of us but I’m still so grateful for all the memories we were able to make over the past year. here’s to 2021! Kisses xx vb”

David, 45, also shared some happy times from the past year in a video, with his meeting with Captain Tom as one of the big highlights.

He is seen with the centenarian after his mammoth fundraising efforts as well as videos of Becks with his sons Brooklyn and Romeo going for a run and time with Manchester United legend Bobby Charlton.

The Beckhams have had a lot to celebrate last year

With the Bee Gees ‘Too Much Heaven’ playing over his throwback selection, David captioned the post: “Sending all my love wherever you are in the world.

“It’s been a challenging year that has taught us so much, especially what’s most important. Here’s to a brighter 2021. Happy New Year ❤”️

With Brooklyn’s wedding with Nicola on the horizon in 2021, it would seem that the Beckhams have a lot to look forward to in the coming year.

David Beckham could hand Lionel Messi his dream transfer alongside Luis Suarez

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi could reportedly join David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami, after the 33-year-old admitted that he would “like to play in the United States”.

Messi is out of contract with Barcelona in the summer and could leave for free after handing in a transfer request in August.

A potential reunion with former boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City has been heavily rumoured but, according to Catalunya Radio, Messi wants to play alongside Luis Suarez again and the pair could join forces at Inter Miami.

Spanish outlet Cadena Ser also claims that a move to Inter Miami is on the table, with Messi planning to stay at Barcelona until 2023 before moving to America.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez could be reunited at David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami

The report claims that Messi has already bought an apartment in the luxury Porsche Design Tower in Florida and wants his children to go to high school in the States.

Messi recently told Spanish television channel La Sexta that his short-term future is still up in the air but that he would “like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there”.

Messi has spoken about his desire to play in the MLS and Beckham could offer him the opportunity

He said: “I don’t know what I’m going to do yet. I’m going to wait until the season ends. I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there, but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity.

“Right now the most important thing is to focus on the team and finish the season well, to focus on trying to win trophies and not get distracted by other things.”

Messi also opened up about last summer’s transfer saga, adding: “These days I am feeling well. I had a really bad time last summer with the Burofax and all that, and before.

“But now I feel good, excited to fight for everything in front of us. But club going through difficult moment, team too, everything around Barca is difficult.”

David Beckham ‘snubbed’ from Honours list again – after ‘begging for knighthood’

David Beckham has once again been ‘snubbed’ for a knighthood on the New Year Honours list.

The former England footballer, 45, had been a favourite to pick up a title last year, given his service to the sport and various charities, but has been passed over once again.

David’s name was famously missing from the list in 2017 amid scrutiny over his investments in a tax avoidance scheme.

It’s been suggested that the star went on to pay a reported £12.7 million in tax the following year, which placed him and wife Victoria among the country’s 50 biggest tax payers.

While David did not feature, a number of sports stars made the star-studded New Year Honours list for 2021, which saw more than 1,200 people recognised for their contributions to public life.

Seven-time Formula One winner Lewis Hamilton was given a knighthood after he was previously overlooked, reportedly due to his tax affairs.

His honour comes after a campaign by Motorsport UK, with chairman David Richards saying the driver’s tax status had been “totally misunderstood”.

Lewis Hamilton has been award a knighthood for services to Motorsports

Tottenham and England legend Jimmy Greaves was included on the list

While football legend Jimmy Greaves, 80, and his fellow 1966 World Cup squad member Ron Flowers, 86, will be made MBEs.

Rugby League star Rob Burrow also receives an MBE for his campaigning around motor neurone disease after being diagnosed with the terminal illness.

In 2013 leaked emails revealed just how much Beckham was hoping to get knighted in the annual Honours List.

The former Manchester United star was said to be furious after being snubbed back in 2013, and wrote a series of angry rants to his long-time PR man Simon Oliveira.

Beckham has campaigned for a number of charities including UNICEF

In the notes, it was suggested that Becks felt his charity work and help bringing the Olympic Games to London should have made him a shoo-in for the gong.

Beckham, who was made an OBE in 2003, wrote: “I expected nothing less.

“It’s a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would of got something like this 10 years ago.”

He was also alleged to have written, “unless it is a knighthood, f*** off”.

Lin Wood suggests Gov. Brian Kemp, senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue should all be ARRESTED

Pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood suggests Georgia’s Gov. Brian Kemp, GOP senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue should all be ARRESTED for election fraud

  • Wood, a staunch ally of Donald Trump, tweeted a poster which wrongly suggested Loeffler, Perdue and Gov. Brian Kemp committed election fraud
  • It also urged Republicans not to vote in the state’s run-off next month
  • ‘The fraud will be so obvious… real conservative senators can then be appointed, after Kemp, Perdue and Loeffler’s arrest,’ the poster Wood shared online read
  • Perdue is taking on Democrat Jon Ossoff; Loeffler is facing Raphael Warnock
  • The two races will determine which party controls the Senate

Attorney Lin Wood has suggested Georgia’s GOP senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, as well as Governor Brian Kemp, should be arrested for election fraud while also urging Republicans not to vote in the state’s run-off.

Wood, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, tweeted a poster which read: ‘The Georgia election fraud committed by anti-Trump RINOs Brian Kemp, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue against President Trump and Doug Collins was accomplished using the Dominion Voting Systems Algorithm.

‘The algorithm was never designed for unheard-of levels of GOP non-participation. The algorithm will steal votes from the GOP, but there will be so few in heavily Democratic precincts that GOP vote totals will go negative.’

‘The fraud will be so obvious, SCOTUS can then invalidate the presidential election. Real conservative senators can then be appointed, after Kemp, Perdue and Loeffler’s arrest,’ the poster adds.

Perdue is taking on Democrat Jon Ossoff; Loeffler is facing Raphael Warnock.

The two races will determine which party controls the Senate — and likely how ambitious President-elect Joe Biden can be with his agenda.

If Republicans win one race, they will maintain a narrow majority, and the chamber will serve as a bulwark against Democratic legislation.

But if Democrats carry both, the balance will be 50-50 —with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris delivering tie-breaking votes.

He wrote: ‘I have received much criticism for demanding that GA fix the 11/3 fraud before we vote in 1/5 runoff. In full disclosure, I am not a fan of any of the 4 candidates in Senate runoff. Communists or China compromised in my opinion.

‘I just want an HONEST election. Don’t you?’

Wood, who has represented Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, has continued to spread baseless claims of election fraud to his followers since Trump’s loss in November.

He has wrongly suggested that Dominion Voting Systems were rigged.

Georgia’s two runoff races kicked off in November after Perdue and Loeffler failed to get more than 50 percent of the vote on Election Day. Early voting has already started for the January 5 election.

Mr Biden has pledged to rejoin the Paris climate accord on the first day of his presidency, after Donald Trump controversially pulled Washington out of it.

The international agreement aims to curb global warming.

Sir David, a passionate environmental campaigner, said ‘of course’ Mr Biden’s November election victory was good for the world, adding ‘how could I deny that?’

Sir David, a passionate environmental campaigner, said ‘of course’ Mr Biden’s November election victory was good for the world, adding ‘how could I deny that?’

Speaking to the Radio Times, the beloved naturalist, 94, discussed the US returning to the climate change table.

He said: ‘It’s of the greatest possible importance. The major power in the world and the major economic power in the world?

‘Of course, it’s absolutely crucial that it is party to all these things and if we are to find a solution with international agreements the presence of America is beyond measure.’

Sir David, who recently worked on Netflix documentary A Life On Our Planet, is an intrepid traveller and has made films from around the world.

However, his flying days may be over. Asked if he will ever travel overseas again to film, he said ‘no, not a lot’.

Sir David added: ‘It’s probably a fact of age, but I was finding my heart was sinking deeper and deeper into my boots every time I walked up into an aircraft and looked down that long line and thought, ‘I’m going to be here for another 24 hours.’

‘It didn’t make my heart lift with pleasure.’

Sir David Attenborough admits he may never film abroad again

Sir David Attenborough will scale back his flying and might never film overseas again.

The 94-year-old says his “heart was sinking deeper into my boots” every time he boarded a plane.

In his lifetime, it has been estimated Sir David has travelled 1.9 million miles – the equivalent of flying around the world 763 times – and has made almost 400 trips to 94 different countries.

He recorded his narration for a new BBC series from his home in Richmond due to the pandemic, and now thinks he could aim to continue recording from home.

He told Radio Times: “It’s probably a fact of age, but I was finding my heart was sinking deeper and deeper into my boots every time I walked up into an aircraft and looked down that long line and thought, ‘I’m going to be here for another 24 hours.’

“It didn’t make my heart lift with pleasure.”

Sir David Attenborough will scale back his flying and might never film overseas again

Asked if he thinks he will ever film overseas again, he admitted: “No, not a lot.”

The broadcaster has been making documentaries about the natural world since The Pattern of Animals and Zoo Quest in the 1950s.

For The Life of Birds documentary series, broadcast on the BBC in 1998, he travelled 256,000 miles – the equivalent of travelling around the world ten times – to visit 42 countries.

In recent years, Sir David has travelled to fewer of the locations used for the series he features in.

During the production of 2019’s Seven Worlds, One Planet, he travelled to just two of the 41 countries producers filmed in – Kenya and Iceland.

Discussing his carbon footprint, he said at the time the flights were justified, explaining: “I don’t think people should fly just for the hell of it.

“Apart from anything else, the BBC would be absurd to spend money on flights that are not essential or important.”

Elsewhere in his chat with Radio Times, Sir David welcomed Joe Biden ’s victory in the US Presidential election by punching the air and says it was “of course” a good thing for the planet.

He is pleased the new US leader plans to rejoin the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The broadcaster has been making documentaries about the natural world since The Pattern of Animals and Zoo Quest in the 1950s

He previously described Donald Trump ’s decision to pull out of the agreement “a blow”.

Now, he says: “It’s of the greatest possible importance. The major power in the world and the major economic power in the world? Of course, it’s absolutely crucial that it is party to all these things and if we are to find a solution with international agreements the presence of America is beyond measure.”

He recorded his narration for BBC1’s A Perfect Planet from the dining room at his home near London’s Richmond Park, which he hung duvets around to soundproof. He has only left home twice since the first lockdown, both times to visit the dentist.

Standing in front of a twinkling Christmas tree as Victoria filmed, Harper loudly and clearly read the label on the packet, saying: ‘The elf on the shelf gave this to me and it says: Reindeer food

‘Sprinkle this reindeer food outside tonight, the moonlight will make it sparkle bright, as the reindeer fly and roam, this will guide them to your home.’

Meanwhile, her father David gave an insight of the further festive treats Harper received on Christmas Eve.

Taking to his Instagram stories, as well as the ‘Reindeer Food’, David snapped pictures of ‘Father Christmas Kisses’, Elf Poo’ and Reindeer Poo’, nothing of the latter: ‘Harper Seven laughed a lot this morning.’

Last week, Harper’s mum Victoria threw herself into the Elf on the Shelf challenge as she trapped Santa’s Little Helper in the freezer.

The designer shared a hilarious video showing her daughter’s bewilderment as she found the toy stuck in a block of ice, joking that as she works with Santa Claus she must be ‘used to being cold.’

Victoria took to Instagram Stories to share a video from the previous evening as she and husband David prepared the next round of Elf on the Shelf.

The pair revealed they’d trapped the toymaker in a block of ice after storing it in the freezer, with Victoria saying: ‘[She’s gonna be] freaked out when she opens the freezer to get a lollipop out and there’s like a frozen elf!’

She captioned the first video: ‘Poor frozen elf! He’s not going to make it to Christmas at this rate!

As Victoria asked: ‘Harper what happened?’ her daughter replied: ‘The elf – its had a murder!’

Zooming in on the elf’s ever-smiling face, Victoria said: ‘Oh but look – she still looks quite happy!

‘Maybe because she’s an elf who works with Santa she’s used to being cold! Maybe she quite likes it! We have to defrost her.’

David Lasnet spoke candidly about marriage to Stella Tennant in interview years before model’s death

The husband of Stella Tennant spoke candidly about their marriage years before her death saying the secret to their 20 year marriage was: ‘We want to make it work’.

David Lasnet also credited the model with ‘lifting him out of depression’ early in their marriage but said she did not know the depths of the support she had given him.

He made the coments in a candid interview about their marriage nine years before her death. Tennant split from her husband of two decades, earlier this year.

The aristocratic supermodel – famed for her androgynous punk style – was found dead at their home on the Scottish borders this week.

Although the circumstances of her death are unknown, it was claimed that the model was concerned about the impact of Covid on the fashion industry and had concerns she would not work again.

Paris-born photographer Mr Lasnet previously described his wife as ‘super-supportive’ and credited her with improving his mental health after he suffered depression in his 20s.

The pair met when Mario Testino hired him as an assistant after he was talent spotted by the iconic fashion designer while drinking coffee outside a Paris cafe.

He was hired as a set assistant after declining the designer’s offer to model for him, instead asking for a job behind the camera.

‘And that’s how I met Stella,’ he recalled in an interview with the New York Times Magazine in 2011.

Tennant was invited to set for a photoshoot with Testino in New York and the pair hit it off.

It was love at first sight, she recalled. They couple shared lunch after the shoot.

‘David was sitting opposite me. I was so nervous that the rice kept falling off my fork. I had to give up eating,’ she recalled.

But it took a while for them to get together as a couple due to the language barriers between French-born Lasnet and aristocratic Brit Tennant.

‘The first six months were very dampened by our capacity to communicate with each other,’ he said previously. ‘Stella taught me English’.

Lasnet recalled that his mental health also contributed to the realtionship getting off to a rocky start.

The photographer, who is now trilingual, said: ‘I went through a period of depression from the age of 18 to 20-something.

‘Stella really lifted me out of it without knowing. She came from a completely different background and was super-supportive of me always. From then on, everything got better.’

Lasnet asked Stella to have children with him within two months of their relationship starting. She replied ‘not just yet’.

It marked the start of a relationship that would span more than 20 years and give them four children, Marcel, Cecily, Jasmine, and Iris, now aged between 15 and 22.

The pair married in 1999 at the local church in Oxnam, Scotland – Stella’s hometown.

Their relationship appeared idyllic, and they built a happy home in their countryside estate on the Scottish borders.

They moved to the 18th-century house from New York in the US where Lasnet had forged a successful career as a photographer while Stella excelled as a model.

The model was known for her androgynous looks during her 1990s heyday and became a muse for Karl Lagerfeld. The fashion designer attributed to her resemblance to Coco Chanel.

In August, it emerged that Stella had quietly separated from her husband some 21 years after they had married in the local church. Pictured: Model Stella Tennant walks the ramp showcasing Rocco Barocco swimwear collection in Milan in 1998

The couple’s move across the Atlantic inspired Lasnet to retrain and he studied to be an osteopath – a profession choice he recalls was sparked by his son Marcel developing whooping cough as a toddler.

When asked for the secret to the longevity of their marriage, Lasnet said: ‘Well, I think we want to make it work, you know?

‘There’s nothing better than growing old together. And it’s very easy to destroy something.’

‘When we moved here, Stella’s mom watched me cutting down trees and said: ‘Yeah, it takes 10 minutes to chop down a tree and 10 years to see it grow.’

In August, it emerged that Stella had quietly separated from her husband some 21 years.

Neighbours were shocked at the news saying that, since the separation, David had seemingly moved to Edinburgh, where the couple had a mews house, and continued working as an osteopath while Stella had taken up riding.

‘She was well liked, warm and friendly. The very opposite of a social butterfly, quite unstarry, and all the more popular in the community for it,’ one of them said yesterday.

‘I saw her recently out on her horse, and we had a good chat. She seemed well, but did say she was very worried about [the impact of] Covid [on fashion] because she thought it might mean she never worked again.

‘She said that by the time people were allowed to travel again and the catwalk shows re-started, she would be regarded as too old. But that was the only thing that gave the impression she wasn’t completely happy.’

In one of her final interviews, Stella said she was delighted to be growing old gracefully, joking that – at her husband’s request – she had even stopped dyeing her greying hair.

‘I’m not really pursuing my modelling in the same way. If it wants to pursue me, that’s a different thing, but me as I am. I’m not going to dye my hair… I don’t want to pretend to be something that I’m not,’ she said.

‘I’m incredibly glad to be where I am. I’ve got my children, my husband, work I enjoy… I mean, what else is there really?’

News of her death was confirmed only months after their split and just five days after her 50th birthday.

Her family said in a statement: ‘It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of Stella Tennant on 22nd December 2020.

‘Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed.

‘Her family ask for their privacy to be respected. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.’

Her death is considered sudden, but police say there are no suspicious circumstances.

Mrs Tennant was the granddaughter of Andrew Cavendish, the 11th Duke of Devonshire and Deborah Mitford, one of the well-known aristocratic siblings, who died in 2014.

Stella’s mother was Lady Emma Cavendish, daughter of Andrew Cavendish, the 11th Duke of Devonshire, whose seat is the famous Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

Her first shoot made the cover of British Vogue in December 1993, which Mrs Tennant later said came about ‘by accident’, and at the end of that day’s work she was asked to do a Versace campaign in Paris, which ended up as the cover of the Italian edition.

Mrs Tennant also appeared in numerous advertising campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein, Chanel, Hermes, and Burberry before retiring in 1998 as she was pregnant with her first child.

She later returned to the runway and worked on several campaigns behind the camera.

Married At First Sight star David Pugh finds ‘soulmate’ after 2-day marriage

A Married At First Sight star has found new love after his marriage ended after just two days.

The show saw Birmingham’s David Pugh tie the knot with Shareen Geers, before she “checked out” after just 48 hours.

But now he’s met his “soulmate”, a lady from Dublin, hinting that his on-screen marriage ordeal has made his happiness now that bit sweeter.

“First trip to Dublin to see my new lady Red heart,” a smitten David tweeted, “WOW what a great few days; back for a week over Christmas too. Feeling blessed ….”

Later he added: “Your ‘one’ is out there for sure. Never stop looking. No one was more surprised than me to find my soulmate…Sometimes you need to feel the pain to fully appreciate and be grateful for the pleasure.

“Hope your Christmas is wonderful.”

David’s found his soulmate after his marriage came to an end after two days

Self-confessed “prepper” David likes to ensure he’s prepared for whatever crisis life could throw at him, telling Birmingham Live he thought Shareen had been “blessed not to have had any real calamities in her life.”

Shareen decided to call their brief union quits after he presented her with a survival kit in case of emergency.

And the dad-of-two was inundated with offers after his love debacle aired.

“I’ve had some interesting propositions since the episode aired,” he admitted.

David’s marriage lasted just 48 hours

He gifted her a survival kit soon after they wed

“I think overall people can see I’m a decent guy. People say, ‘My mum would be the perfect person for you if it doesn’t work out with Shareen’. Or, ‘My auntie thinks you’re lovely.’

“I was having a curry at Saffron in Knowle with my daughter when a few people came over and said they recognised me from TV, which is hard to get used to!”

And David’s preparedness came in handy after he employed his Krav Maga – a military self-defence form of martial arts – to fight off thugs who’d burst into his home wielding machetes.

David said he found being recognised a strange experience

Modest David insists he wasn’t being brave after successfully defending his home against the crooks.

“I got woken up at three in the morning with the sound of broken glass and doors being kicked in,” he recalled.

“It became an out-and-out battle in my house for about ten minutes. My martial arts training just kicked in. I wasn’t being brave. I was very lucky – there were golf clubs, machetes, table legs flying.”

They eventually fled empty-handed.

David Bowie’s son finds pop legend’s scarf from The Snowman hidden in storage

David Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, was surprise to discover the scarf his father wore in The Snowman while searching through storage boxes.

Music icon David – who sadly passed away aged 69 in 2016 – featured in the iconic 1982 animation film The Snowman, appearing as a narrator at the beginning of the cartoon during a live action segment.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, David’s 49-year-old director son Duncan – known as Zowie Bowie when he was a child – revealed he had the joyous surprise of finding the scarf his father wore in the Snowman scene.

Sharing a selfie of himself with the scarf wrapped around him – and clutching a couple of sock puppets – Duncan described finding the vintage prop.

He wrote: “Went looking for sock monkeys in the storage boxes and FOUND THE SCARF!!! YAY!”

The update provoked an outpouring of nostalgia and emotion from fans, with many sharing their adoration for both The Snowman and David.

Among those responding was a man named Brian Harding who claimed to have worked on The Snowman and shared an anecdote about the scarf.

Duncan Jones looked absolutely thrilled to have found his father’s scarf

He tweeted: “Hi Duncan! I am Brian Harding, who produced the filming of your father’s introduction to The Snowman.

“You may not remember the history. The Scarf was knitted by the lady in the accounts department of TVC, the production company who made the animation.

“She came onto the set and presented it to David.

“When filming was over, David asked very politely if he could keep the scarf to give to his son, Zowie.”

He continued: “This was the only fee he charged for the filming and I believe he offered his services for personal reasons.

The original scarf was found by David’s son Duncan in a storage box

“He was charming throughout and totally professional. I am glad that the scarf found its way to the destination he intended: from the dude to another dude.”

The Snowman was based on the book of the same name by Raymond Briggs and tells the story of a boy named James who goes on a magical journey to the arctic circle with a snowman that comes to life.

In the animation, the pair meet Father Christmas who gifts James a scarf – which is as the one worn by David in the live-action introduction.
