Chrissy Teigen pens a heartbreaking essay about losing son Jack

Chrissy Teigen lost her son Jack only weeks ago and has quietly been dealing with the pain ever since with the help of her husband John Legend.

On Tuesday the 34-year-old supermodel opened up about her heartbreaking ordeal in a brave essay posted to Medium.

‘I had no idea when I would be ready to write this. Part of me thought it would be early on, when I was still really feeling the pain of what happened,’ began the cover girl as she detailed her loss and how the kindness of strangers has helped her recover.

Sharing: Chrissy Teigen lost her son Jack only weeks ago and has quietly been dealing with the pain ever since with the help of her husband John Legend. On Tuesday the 34-year-old supermodel opened up about her heartbreaking ordeal in a brave essay posted to Medium

She added, ‘I thought I would sit in the corner of my bedroom with the lights dimmed, just rolling off my thoughts. I’d have a glass of red wine, cozy up with a blanket, and finally get the chance to address “what happened.”‘

What happened is she he gave birth to her third child, a son named Jack, stillborn after severe complications four month into the pregnancy.

Teigen explained she was on her downstairs couch in a blanket after a morning of friends and fried chicken.

‘I’m reading off countless notes from my phone — thoughts that have randomly popped up in the weeks since. I didn’t really know how I would start this, no matter the room or state I was in, but it feels right to begin with a thank you,’ she said.

The catwalker said flowers and notes from fans have meant a lot to her.  ‘After we first lost Jack, I found myself incredibly worried that I wasn’t able to thank everyone for their extreme kindness,’ she shared.

Many shared ‘incredible personal experiences,’  books and poems.

‘I wanted to thank everyone, share our story with each individual person. But I knew I was in no state to. For me, the “no need to respond” note was such a true relief. I thank you for each and every one of those.’

One of the standout moments was when she went through the halls of labor and delivery, and John saying “What, is there a f***ing party going on here??”’

‘I was about to fully deliver what was supposed to be the 5th member of our beautiful family, a son, only to say goodbye moments later. People cheered and laughed right outside our door, understandably for a new life born and celebrated. You kind of wonder how anyone is thinking about anyone but you,’ she said.

‘At this point I had already come to terms with what would happen: I would have an epidural and be induced to deliver our 20 week old, a boy that would have never survived in my belly (please excuse these simple terms).

‘I was previously on bedrest for over a month, just trying to get the little dude to 28 weeks, a “safer” zone for the fetus.’

Difficult pregnancy: She went on to say her doctors diagnosed her with partial placenta abruption. 'I had always had placenta problems. I had to deliver Miles a month early because his stomach wasn’t getting enough food from my placenta,' she said

She went on to say her doctors diagnosed her with partial placenta abruption. ‘I had always had placenta problems. I had to deliver Miles a month early because his stomach wasn’t getting enough food from my placenta,’ she said.

‘But this was my first abruption. We monitored it very closely, hoping for things to heal and stop. In bed, I bled and bled, lightly but all day, changing my own diapers every couple of hours when the blood got uncomfortable to lay in.

The star said she became an adult diaper expert.

‘I was truly appreciating the brands that went out of their way to not make me feel like an actual shitting baby,’ she said.

Hard time: 'But this was my first abruption. We monitored it very closely, hoping for things to heal and stop. In bed, I bled and bled, lightly but all day, changing my own diapers every couple of hours when the blood got uncomfortable to lay in,' she added

‘I could have spent these days at the hospital, but not much of a difference would have been made,’ she added. ‘I was still seen by doctors at home, silently twisting their negative words into positives, thinking that everything might still turn out okay,’ she added.

Finally, she had a ‘pretty bad night’ in bed, ‘after a not-so-great ultrasound, where I was bleeding a bit more than even my abnormal amount.’

The bleeding was getting heavier and heavier. ‘The fluid around Jack had become very low — he was barely able to float around. At some points, I swore it was so low I could lay on my back and feel his arms and legs from outside my belly.’

After a couple nights at the hospital, her doctor told her the bad news.

At some points, I swore it was so low I could lay on my back and feel his arms and legs from outside my belly.’ After a couple nights at the hospital, her doctor told her the bad news

‘It was time to say goodbye. He just wouldn’t survive this, and if it went on any longer, I might not either.’

They tried blood transfusions, they did not work.

‘Late one night, I was told it would be time to let go in the morning. I cried a little at first, then went into full blown convulsions of snot and tears, my breath not able to catch up with my own incredibly deep sadness,’ said Chrissy.

Writing this made her feel the pain all over again. ‘

Oxygen was placed over my nose and mouth, and that was the first picture you saw. Utter and complete sadness,’ she shared.

She asked her mother and husband to take pictures.

‘I explained to a very hesitant John that I needed them, and that I did NOT want to have to ever ask. That he just had to do it. He hated it. I could tell. It didn’t make sense to him at the time,’ she said.

‘But I knew I needed to know of this moment forever, the same way I needed to remember us kissing at the end of the aisle, the same way I needed to remember our tears of joy after Luna and Miles. And I absolutely knew I needed to share this story.’

She added she does not care if people were against her taking photos: ‘I lived it, I chose to do it, and more than anything, these photos aren’t for anyone but the people who have lived this or are curious enough to wonder what something like this is like.’

After hours, she ‘decided I wanted to wait until I really, really knew it was over. I stupidly compared it to dogs I had “put down” in the past — how I never wanted to let go until we absolutely knew it was time, that they were suffering far too much. I texted this to my doctor and she said “absolutely.”‘

She then got graphic: ‘Later that night, I went to the bathroom, looked down into the toilet (I had been doing this for months) and broke down again. The sheer amount of blood and clots showed me exactly what I had been waiting for. It was time.’

She said she will never forget the experience.

‘I laid there for hours, waiting to be told it was time to push. I obviously never had to dilate much, he was still a tiny little guy.

‘ I had been laying on my side, switching sides every hour or so, whenever the nurse told me to. I remember laying on my right side, looking opposite of John, when I was told to make my switch.

‘I opened my legs and started to turn to face John and just like that, he was on his way out. The doctors yelled for a bit and…I don’t know what to say, even now. He was out. My mom, John and I each held him and said our own private goodbyes, mom sobbing through Thai prayer. I asked the nurses to show me his hands and feet and I kissed them over and over and over again. I have no idea when I stopped. It could have been 10 minutes or an hour.’

She said his ashes are in a small box, ‘waiting to be put into the soil of a tree in our new home, the one we got with his room in mind.’

‘People say an experience like this creates a hole in your heart. A hole was certainly made, but it was filled with the love of something I loved so much. It doesn’t feel empty, this space. It feels full,’ added the cookbook author.

‘I find myself randomly crying, thinking about how happy I am to have two insanely wonderful little toddlers who fill this house with love. I smother them with love while they “Moooooooom!!!!!” me. I don’t care.’

‘I also cry when I get mad at myself for being too happy.’

She also admitted that she holds her belly still and has ‘a moment of freak out when the kids jump on my non-existent bump’ which makes her sad.

‘I feel bad our grief was so public because I made the joy so public. I was excited to share our news with the world,’ she added. ‘Stories leading up to this had been chronicled for all. It’s hard to look at them now. I was so positive it would be okay. I feel bad that I made you all feel bad. I always will.’

And she is grateful for the acts of kindness. ‘I went to a store where the checkout lady quietly added flowers to my cart. Sometimes people will approach me with a note,’ said Teigen. ‘These strangers always tell me that life will move on, just differently. They tell me to not let anyone tell me this was “God’s plan”, or that we will “have another soon”. Thanks to you, I will block this out forever.’

‘I wrote this because I knew for me I needed to say something before I could move on from this and return back to life, so I truly thank you for allowing me to do so,’ she said, adding: ‘We are so incredibly lucky.’

Chrissy posted the same essay to her Instagram page and wrote in the caption, ‘I didn’t know how to come back to real life so I wrote this piece for Medium with hopes that I can somehow move on but as soon as I posted it, tears flew out because it felt so….final.

‘I don’t want to ever not remember jack. . . Thank you to everyone who has been so kind. Thank you to the incredible doctors who tried so hard to make our third life a reality. Thank you to my friends and family and our entire household for taking care of me through all the adult diaper changes, bed rest and random hugs.

‘Thank you John for being my best friend and love of my life. A lot of people think of the woman in times like this but I will never forget that john also suffered through these past months, while doing everything he could to take care of me. I am surrounded, in a human therapy blanket of love. I am grateful and healing and feel so incredibly lucky to witness such love.’

John responded to the post by leaving a simple heart emoji underneath.

She first spoke to fans on Instagram in early October.

‘We are quiet but we are okay,’ she said while posting a screenshot of a tweet from Legend and adding ‘Love you all so much.’ It was her first Instagram update since revealing her loss.

Chrissy and John tied the knot in Italy in September of 2013, and conceived Miles and daughter Luna, four, through IVF treatment, while their third pregnancy occurred naturally and was a surprise. She  announced the loss of her third baby in late September, just weeks after the pair had revealed in John’s Wild music video that they were expecting again.

Billboard Music Awards 2020 winners: Billie Eilish and Post Malone are big winners

Billie Eilish scored the awards for Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Female Artist at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, but it was Post Malone who left the show the biggest winner as the recipient of nine trophies, including Top Artist.

Malone, 25, was presented with Top Artist at the end of the ceremony, followed by a cart of his eight other trophies by host Kelly Clarkson, who pushed them in his direction ‘COVID style.’

‘I can’t touch you, so I had to wheel it out,’ Clarkson, 38, told Malone as she presented the awards to him from a distance.

Accepting the award for Top Artist with a red Solo cup in hand, Malone was truly touched by the recognition.

‘I’m honestly blown away, just by the love that everybody’s shown to me, and honestly, I appreciate it more than I could ever express and it’s kind of a big deal for me, you know, and everybody involved because we work — we work our a**es off, and we just try our best every day and honestly, to be able to reach out to people who might, you know, not have anybody to turn to and just be able to reach out and show everybody that they’re not alone, and music can bring everybody together, it’s absolutely incredible and I just want to say, thank you so very much, ladies and gentlemen. I’m blown away. I’m floored,’ Malone said.

Entering the show with 16 nominations to his name, Malone was the most-nominated artist of the evening, followed close behind Lil Nas X with 13 and Billie Eilish and Khalid with 12.

Malone left the show as the winner of Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, Top Rap Tour, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top Rap Album.

I just want to say, thank you to Billboard, thank you to Atlantic, thank you to Team Lizzo, thank you to everyone who listens to my music and supported me,’ Lizzo said. ‘I just want to say, I’ve been thinking a lot about suppression and the voices that refuse to be suppressed. I wonder, would I be standing here right now if it weren’t for the big Black women who refused to have their voices be suppressed?

‘I just want to say right now, if you’re at home watching this, you are thinking about changing yourself to feel worthy, this is your sign to remain true to who you are. Let me tell you all something – when people try to suppress something, it’s normally because that thing holds power.

‘They’re afraid of your power. There’s power in who you are, there’s power in your voice. So whether it’s through music, protests, or your right to vote, use your power, use your voice, and refuse to be suppressed. Thank you so much to Billboard I love you all god bless you all. Bye!’

John Legend moved viewers with a heartfelt performance of his song Never Break, which he dedicated to his wife Chrissy Teigen.

Chrissy was about halfway into her pregnancy when she lost the child, a baby boy they had already started calling ‘Jack.’

The tragedy happened two weeks ago, and John paid tribute to his wife as he dedicated his performance to his wife.

‘This is for Chrissy,’ John said as he sat behind the piano.

Demi Lovato’s message urging fans to vote during her anti-Trump anthem is censored by NBC

Demi Lovato sang her unapologetic call-out of US president Donald Trump for the first time on Wednesday night at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.

While the 28-year-old singer put on a moving performance of her politically charged anthem, Commander In Chief, one of her messages was censored by NBC.

In footage, obtained by TMZ, the Grammy nominee closed her performance with the word ‘VOTE’ appearing behind her piano, unlike the close-up of her, which aired on TV and official online clips.

During the performance, she wore a blue blazer and vocalized her disdain for the country’s current administration, just weeks ahead of the presidential election.

‘Commander in Chief, honestly / If I did the things you do / I couldn’t sleep, seriously/ Do you even know the truth?’ the hitmaker sang.

Fans of the star blasted the network on Twitter for suppressing her message to vote, and choosing to zoom in ‘only on her face’ during Lovato’s final moments on stage.

Lovato’s message was reportedly cut, according to the outlet, because her scathing lyrics in combination with the words ‘VOTE’ would have been a call to cast a ballot against Trump.

‘Demi Lovato had the courage that many artists don’t have, she criticized one of the biggest political leaders through music,’ one Twitter user wrote. ‘But, NBC decided to censored the ‘VOTE’ message that she had put on the end of her performance. Why @nbc?’

Another chimed in: ‘How dare you? @nbc you will NOT silence her.’

Others pointed out her performance was also left out of the many suggested clips on NBC’s Twitter to ‘relive’ from the evening.

Lovato announced the release of Commander In Chief with a stark black-and-white selfie on her Instagram on Tuesday, in which she wore a face mask with the word VOTE.

In the caption, she included some of the track’s lyrics, while also taking the opportunity to make a call to action to her fans and followers to go out and vote.

‘Won’t give up, stand our ground… We’ll be in the streets while you’re #CommanderInChief. Video dropping tomorrow,’ she wrote.

‘I’m calling on all of you, please join me in voting for this years election. Find your voter information at iwillvote.com’ Demi concluded.

After her Billboard Music Awards, she revealed plans to release a music video, which she first teased on her Instagram Stories – with a collection of diverse actors lip synching the powerful lyrics.

Seemingly a song written directly to Trump, passages in the verses include:

‘We were taught when we were young, If we fight for what’s right there won’t be justice for just some. We won’t give up, stand our ground. We’ll be in the streets while you’re bunkering down. Loud and proud, best believe, We’ll still take a knee, while you’re Commander in Chief.’

Demi sings other lyrics as well, including: ‘Honestly, if I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep’

The song was co-written by Lovato and Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas, among others.

Commander In Chief comes almost two weeks after another song from Demi, titled Still Have Me, which seems to be a breakup track after her failed romance with ex-fiance Max Ehrich.

The pair enjoyed a whirlwind and very public love affair this year, which led to them isolating together amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The dalliance, however, came to an abrupt stop at the end of the summer, when The Cool For The Summer songstress ended her two-month engagement to her Young and The Restless beau, 29, in the middle of September.

‘It was very hurtful to Demi when she realized that Max’s intentions weren’t genuine,’ a source told PEOPLE magazine. ‘Breaking off the engagement was not an easy decision.

‘It was hard for Demi to admit she made a mistake when it came to Max.’

The couple were reportedly ‘having conflicts’ nearly two months after he proposed, and only six short months into their relationship.

‘Demi and Max were basically together 24/7 for months,’ an insider told PEOPLE after the couple quarantined together during the onset of the global pandemic. ‘They lived in a bubble with zero stress and everything was just fun.’

When Max headed to Atlanta, Georgia to film a new movie titled Southern Gospel, distance also took a toll on their relationship.

‘Max shot up in fame, and it’s been hard,’ the source said. ‘He got wrapped up in [Hollywood].’

An insider told US that Max was ‘blindsided by his fiancee’ and he’s still trying to figure out exactly what happened.

‘Max just went through a major breakup, he is heartbroken,’ a source said. ‘He’s not responding to friends again and he is in a fragile state. The posts he is making are not painting a picture of who Max really is.’

Since their separation, Ehrich has shared several heartbroken posts on his social media, and is allegedly attempting to still contact Lovato through her friends and family.

BBMAs hottest looks from Sia’s magenta bow dress to Kelly Clarkson’s sparkles

The Billboard Music Awards 2020 finally got its chance to dish out their gongs after the original ceremony was postponed in April due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ceremony was held on Wednesday night in the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles after the show was moved from Las Vegas,

Kelly Clarkson hosted the event and was sparkling in a silver dress before undergoing a number of outfit changes during the evening.

It was a colourful affair despite there being no audience in the building to appreciate some of the elaborate costumes on show.

Sia probably scooped the prize for most memorable outfit as she took to the stage in a giant magenta bow dress as well as her signature face covering fringe.

Here are the hottest looks from the big awards night.

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson sparkled as the host of the BBMAs

Kelly Clarkson was in sparkling form as she took the helm at the Billboard Music Awards.

She took the opportunity to change a couple times during the show but it was her original look that will be the most memorable of hers from the night as she brought the glitter to the occasion.

Sia

Sia turned heads with her magenta bow gown

Sia usually stands out from the crowd and this was no exception as the 44-year-old singer wrapped herself in a magenta bow gown.

With her signature fringe coloured magenta too, there was only one way she finish off her look and that was to add a huge yellow bow to the top of her head.

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish was covered head to toe including her face

Billie Eilish had hit out at trolls earlier in the day, who had attacked her online for running errands in a vest top and shorts.

She was back to her usual style as she covered up from head to toe, including a face mask which she wore on stage when accepting her awards.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat left little to the imagination

Doja Cat ignored the autumnal weather to perform in a see through sparkly outfit that left little to the imagination.

The 24-year-old ensured she would be one of the more memorable performers on the night with her fabulous throwback look.

Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie was stylish with her look

Reality star Nicole Richie cut an elegant figure in a black off the shoulder ensemble with black flowers cascading across her bra top down to a see through skirt that showcased the 39-year-old toned legs.

Cher

Cher turned back time

Cher turned back time as she put on a leggy display which showed that the 74-year-old legendary performer can give artists 50 years younger a run for their money when it comes to hot styling.

Lizzo

Lizzo wanted to say something with her outfit

Lizzo thought she would make a subtle point to her fans and viewers to get out there and vote in the upcoming US presidential elections.

While she wore an outfit with a message it didn’t stop her looking fabulous as she took to the stage to receive her awards.

Post Malone was the big winner at the delayed Billboard Music Awards, taking home nine gongs including top artist.

The annual ceremony was supposed to take place in Las Vegas in April but was shifted to Los Angeles in October as a result of the pandemic.

There was no audience inside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, leaving winners to address an eerily empty venue.

The latest major awards ceremony to take place amid the pandemic also featured some of the winners wearing masks.

Accepting the biggest prize of the night, top artist, hip-hop star Post Malone said he was “blown away” by the success.

He described the current turmoil as “a weird time for everybody” and told those watching proceedings on TV to “stay strong and just spread love wherever you go”.

Post Malone, who was recognised for his album Hollywood’s Bleeding, also won top male artist.

Pop sensation Billie Eilish was another winner on the night, taking home the prize for top female artist, beating Ariana Grande, Halsey, Lizzo and Taylor Swift.

John Legend dedicates emotional BBMAs performance to Chrissy Teigen in return

John Legend made an emotional return to the stage to perform at the Billboard Music Awards 2020 for the first time since the tragic loss of his son Jack.

The 41-year-old singer dedicated his performance to his wife Chrissy Teigen, as they continued to grieve their loss.

John sang ‘Never Break’ from 2020 album Bigger Love and as he sat behind the piano in the empty Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, he said: “This is for Chrissy.”

His voice was close to cracking as he sang the poignant lyrics: “I’m not worried about us and I’ve never been. We know how the story ends. We will never break.”

The awards ceremony had been postponed from April due to the coronavirus pandemic and was hosted by Kelly Clarkson.

She praised John and Chrissy’s strength in light of the personal tragedy they had suffered.

Introducing his performance on the night, Kelly said: “He and Chrissy both have this warm way of inviting us into their world. The highs and the lows.

“My heart – obviously all of our hearts – go out to you both in this very difficult time.

“And I’m thankful that you continue to share your light and your talent with all of us.”

Lizzo makes a statement while accepting her award

After the performance, Kelly said the moment had been “very special” and was “possibly my favorite of the night.”

Earlier in the awards ceremony, Lizzo had taken to the stage wearing a dress emblazoned with the word “vote”.

She told fans to use their “power” and vote during a rousing acceptance speech after picking up the gong for top song sales artist.

The pop star spoke out against voter suppression – a contentious issue ahead of next month’s presidential election – and calling for self-acceptance among her fans.

Lizzo said: “I’ve been thinking a lot about suppression and the voices that refused to be suppressed and I wonder would I be standing here right now if it weren’t for the big black women who refused to have their voices be suppressed?

“If you are at home watching this and you are thinking about changing yourself to feel worthy, this is your sign to remain true to who you are.

“When people try to suppress something, it’s normally because that thing holds power, they’re afraid of your power, there’s power in who you are, there’s power in your voice.”

The 32-year-old singer added: “So whether it’s through music, protest, or your right to vote, use your power, use your voice and refuse to be suppressed.”

One of the first winners on the night was teenage pop sensation Billie Eilish, who wore a mask on stage to accept her awards.

The 18-year-old won the first prize of the night, Top Billboard 200 album, for her acclaimed effort When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

She described the win as “amazing” and added: “I never, ever take these for granted, it’s always a shock when I win anything at all.”

Lil Nas X picked up the award for Top Hot 100 song for his viral smash Old Town Road.
