Khushi Kapoor is off for a ‘holiday in the sun’, shares another intriguing pic with a friend

Actor Janhvi Kapoor’s younger sister Khushi has been creating quite a stir since she made her Instagram page public a few days back. On Thursday, she shared a bunch of pictures as she set off on a holiday.

Sharing some solo pictures, she wrote: “Holiday in the sun.” However, it was a picture that she put as her Instagram Stories that caught the eye. In it, she posed with a friend, whom internet has identified as Aakash Mehta. While she was dressed in a flowing long beige pair of pants with a printed scarf top, he was in a multi-coloured shirt with a pair of white knee-length shorts.

Just before Christmas, Khushi made her Instagram account public. Khushi has been on Instagram since 2015 and most of her pictures are solo ones, with a few family pictures thrown in.

Since then, she has been posting pictures and engaging with fans on a regular basis. On Wednesday, she had been spotted at Mumbai airport on her return to the city after a brief holiday in Goa with sister Janhvi and her rumoured boyfriend, actor Kartik Aaryan.

Khushi has been pursuing an acting course in New York since September 2019. At that time, Khushi and Janhvi’s aunt, Maheep Kapoor had shared a picture of Khushi with her daughter Shanaya and had written: “#OffToCollege #WillMissYou @khushi05k … Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do #HaveABlast.” Khushi had replied, “love you”.

A follower had asked, “Out of you 4 siblings, who is Boney Ji’s most favourite? “Khushi. Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahaha the secret is out! @janhvikapoor @arjunkapoor @khushi05k (no but honestly he loves all of us the same),” she had said.

Priyanka Chopra flouts Covid-19 lockdown rules in London by visiting salon, police alerted: report

Priyanka Chopra visited a salon in London on Wednesday evening, seemingly violating the UK’s Covid-19 lockdown rules. The UK is under a total lockdown, possibly until mid-February, to curb spiralling cases amid rising concerns surrounding a more infectious new variant of the virus. The regulations state that ‘personal care services’, including salons and spas, must close.

According to a report, Priyanka arrived at the salon with her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, and pet dog Diana at around 4.55pm. Celebrity stylist Josh Wood was also present. The police were alerted of the breach and reached the salon to give a verbal reminder to the owner. No fine was imposed.

Metro.co.uk quoted a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police as saying, “Police were alerted at around 17:40hrs on Wednesday, 6 January to reports of a Covid breach taking place within a hairdressers on Lansdowne Mews, Notting Hill. Officers attended and the owner of the salon was given a verbal reminder of the important need to comply with all regulations regarding Covid-19 and signposted to other sources of advice. No fixed penalty notices were issued.”

Priyanka is reportedly stranded in London with her husband, Nick Jonas. She was in the city to shoot for her upcoming film, Text For You. While filming was originally supposed to end later this month, the production team is trying to arrange for everyone to return to the US at the earliest.

Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar pens emotional note on his birthday, reveals why she celebrates it even though he never did

Late actor Irrfan Khan’s wife, writer Sutapa Sikdar, poured her heart out in an emotional birthday tribute to him. She reminisced about the time he would ask her why she celebrates birthdays and said that she has an answer for him now.

Starting her Facebook post with a few lines written by poet Sahir Ludhianvi, Sutapa wrote, “You never celebrated your birthday initially to my dismay then reconciliation then just a habit. You used to ask me when you were really young ‘why would you celebrate your birthday isn’t it one year less to your death day?’ of course these were conversation when you had just ventured out from home from conditioning to exploration so you would question everything.I don’t remember what I answered you but today I want to answer so listen.”

“Irrfan I celebrate the day because how would I have met you if you were not born ..so I celebrate the day the nakshatras the tithi the grahas the alignment of the universe on that particular day which welcomed you in this planet. And now that you are in the infinite did you get some answers you always seeked?,” she added.

Earlier in the day, Irrfan’s elder son Babil shared a heartfelt note for him, along with an unseen video. In the clip, Irrfan, Sutapa and their younger son Ayaan were seen trying to record a message for Babil.

“You never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations. Perhaps, that is why I don’t remember anyone’s birthdays because you never remembered mine and never encouraged me to remember yours. It was just normal to us what seemed absurd from the outside, we celebrated everyday (bringing personal experiential authenticity to the cliche). On the occasion, Mamma would have to remind us both; but this time I could not forget yours if I tried. It’s your birthday Baba. Shoutout to all the technologically inept parents, notice that they did not finish saying that they miss me,” Babil wrote.

Irrfan’s final release, Anup Singh’s The Song of Scorpions, will hit the theatres this year. Last month, Babil shared the motion poster of the film, which advertised it as ‘a golden chance to witness the magician on the big screen for one last time’.

“One more time, perhaps not the last. #thesongofscorpions,” he wrote. Sutapa shared the poster and wrote, “A journey from the finite to the infinite. #thesongofscorpions #neverthelasttime.”

Taapsee Pannu, Urmila Matondkar, Pooja Bhatt slam NCW member’s victim-blaming comments about Budaun gang-rape

Members of the film community such as Taapsee Pannu, Pooja Bhatt and Urmila Matondkar have condemned comments made by a National Commission for Women member, who seemingly took a victim-blaming tone while discussing the Budaun rape.

NCW member Chandramukhi Devi on Thursday said a 50-year-old woman’s gang-rape and murder could have been avoided had she not stepped out at night. “Women should not go out at odd times under the influence of any person,” she said, in a video being widely circulated on social media. “I think this incident would not have occurred if the woman had not stepped out of her house alone or had she been accompanied by a [male] child of the family.”

Pooja Bhatt, tagging NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma, asked in a tweet, “Respected @NCWIndia @sharmarekha Do you stand by this statement by your representative in context to the Badaun rape case. Kindly clarify if you agree with your representative that the victim was at fault for stepping out to visit a temple unaccompanied and at the time she did.”

Rekha replied, “No I don’t..I don’t know how and why the member has said this but women have all the right move on their will whenever and wherever they want to. It’s society and state’s duty to make places safe for women.” Pooja thanked her for her prompt response, and wrote back, “Truly appreciate your prompt response and your view on the same. Truly hope we can rely on you to sensitise the said representative & ensure she retracts her statement and expresses genuine remorse for the same with immediate effect. Thank you again.”

In a tweet, Urmila commented, “This mentality is what needs to change from within..n till then there is no hope of betterment. How can women only victimise other women like this..sad n unfortunate.” Taapsee wrote, “If people with her kind of thinking didn’t exist in this country toh aisi ghatna nahi hoti (then this incident would not have happened). #Hopeless #Shame.” Model and former Bigg Boss contestant, Diandra Soares, wrote, “Wow. Really just wow. We in 2021 right ?????? I’m so bloody confused!!!!”

Actor Kangana Ranaut now has more than three million followers on Twitter. The actor took to her Twitter account to thank her many fans and also to speak of her journey since she began tweeting herself.

She wrote: “Thank you everyone, I joined in last August this was my team handle with few thousand followers I never thought so soon we will be 3 million of us, twitter is distracting at times but it’s also fun, thank you.” She was responding to a follower’s tweet.

Kangana has never held herself back and taken aim at all on Twitter. Only recently, she had tweeted in opposition to actor and politician Kamal Haasan and MP and senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on their stand on income for homemakers. She had written: “Don’t put a price tag on sex we have with our love, don’t pay us for mothering our own, we don’t need salary for being the Queens of our own little kingdom our home, stop seeing everything as business. Surrender to your woman she needs all of you not just your love/respect/salary.”

She had mocked Diljit for going off on a holiday after showing some initial support for farmers. She had written: “Wah brother!! Desh mein aag lagake kisanon ko sadak le baitha ke local karantikaris videsh mein thand ka maza le rahe hain, wah!!! Isko kehte hain local kranti… (After putting the nation on fire, making farmers sit on streets in protests, local activists are off to enjoy cold climates for holidays. Adipurush director Om Raut on Saif Ali Khan’s ‘foot-in-mouth problem’: ‘Saif sir has his own way of thinking’

Director Om Raut, who has had to deal with controversies fuelled by Saif Ali Khan on two films now, has said that the actor’s words are often misunderstood. Saif recently had to retract his comments about the treatment of Raavan in Om’s upcoming mythological epic, Adipurush.

In an interview, the filmmaker said that he would have preferred to not have drawn negative attention towards the film before fans are able to experience it, and that he would like for Adipurush to speak for itself.

Asked if Saif has an ‘honesty problem’ or a ‘foot-in-mouth problem’, Om told journalist Rajeev Masand in an interview, “I think Saif sir has his own way of thinking. What he kind of meant and what comes out is maybe not always communicated well. That’s one thing that we’ve come over… We’re over it. I love Saif sir for the commitment he has for the subject, the type of reading that he has done. That’s the Saif Ali Khan that we should know, and that’s the Saif Ali Khan that’s a page of Indian cinema.”

Saif landed in trouble for saying that Adipurush would delve into the villainous demon king’s motivations in a nuanced manner. Saif had told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose.”

When his comments attracted the attention of certain section of the public, Saif issued an apology and said that he did not intend on offending anyone, and that the film will present the story ‘without any distortions’.

Om said that he wouldn’t want to add to Saif’s last statement, and that he would want to leave it at that. “As a writer-director, you want your piece of art to do the speaking.”

Saif had landed in a similar fix when he declared his first film with Om, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, to be historically inaccurate. “For some reason I didn’t take a stand… maybe next time I would,” Saif had told Film Companion, adding, “I was very excited to play the role because it’s a delicious role. But when people say this is history; I don’t think this is history. I am quite aware of what the history was.”

Sikandar Kher: I don’t think anyone’s job is under threat because of stars venturing into web

With theatres shut for major period the year, 2020 saw emergence of OTT platforms like never before and it also ushered in the beginning of big Bollywood stars making their presence felt on various platforms either as actors or producers. But Sikandar Kher is unperturbed by all of this, and feels even going forward in 2021, the stars aren’t going to take away jobs from those who’re already doing work well on the web.

“I don’t think anything and anyone’s job is under threat because stars are coming on OTT. It’s the same as it always has been. People are going where they want to go and do what they want to do. You’ve to forget that and just got to focus on yourself. That’s about it,” shares Kher.

The actor, who starred in two web series — Aarya and MumBhai — last year, believes in keeping a positive outlook when it comes to work.

“If you start thinking, ‘Arre yahaan ab apna kuchh nahi hoga because woh log (big stars) aa gaye hain, then you’re already looking at it in a very negative way. I don’t look at it like that. Whatever is supposed to come my way will come,” he explains.

Kher received a lot of accolade for his performance in Aarya that starred Sushmita Sen as the protagonist. Asked if the show made people in Bollywood see him in new light, and he quips, “To be very honest, it’s about something doing well and yes, Aarya was a very successful show.”

The actor, who has starred in films such as Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (2010), Players (2012), Aurangzeb (2013), Romeo Akbar Walter (2019) and will be seen in the upcoming Sooryavanshi, admits that there have been more misses that hits in his career.

He says, “Unfortunately, the films that I had done didn’t do so well. So, if any of the films were successful, then may be a character would have stayed with you and you’d have remembered. It’s directly related to success. If an actor’s work gets noticed, his career trajectory changes.”

Mirzapur 2 actor Divyenndu aka Munna Bhaiya: I have said no to a lot of money and directors, was not easy

Divyenndu’s career witnessed an upswing in 2020 with his character Munna Bhaiya in Mirzapur 2 garnering him a lot of praise and adulation. Before this show, the actor has starred in films such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), and Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) as the virtuous, hero’s friend.

The actor says the reason he wanted to experiment with his image is because a lot of similar work started coming his way. “There are two ways to go about it. One, if I need to capitalise and consolidate my position, and go long — I was also thinking to try and do that with these boy next door roles — but I was not okay with it,” he says.

Ask him why and the 37-year-old says he had his own reasons.

“The films will be cool, but I won’t be happy as a person. I said no to a lot of offers, a lot of money and directors, which wasn’t easy for me. I need to have something different where I can show the complete side of me as an artiste. It had to happen, mere paas Munna ka role aana hi tha. I thank God every day for it,” he shares.

In times of the pandemic and especially the lockdown phase, digital platforms emerged as the only source of entertainment with plenty of new content coming out and even films meant for theatrical releases opting for web route. Divyenndu, however, says that the shift in audience’s taste and perception was evident even before all of this happened.

“Before the lockdown, we had seen many big films didn’t work. It’s certainly true that people want something else, and the credit goes to OTT. People started watching these fascinating web shows and films. Also, it’s better for outsiders today in showbiz, it’s all much more organised. The credit goes to casting directors, and because of web, there’s so much work out there,” he ends.

Saif Ali Khan says he was in a ‘mental and professional ditch’ and his work got him out of it

Actor Saif Ali Khan has talked about the important role that work has played in his life. Among the busiest actors in Bollywood currently, Saif is looking forward to the release of multiple projects such as Bhoot Police, Tandav, Adipurush and others.

In a recent interview, Saif spoke about being in a ‘ditch’, mentally and professionally. He thanked filmmakers for offering him good roles so he could start a second innings of his career.

“Honestly, I believe I have worked very hard. I was in a bit of a ditch, mentally and professionally. I managed to get out of that. It is like climbing a mountain. I feel like I am on base camp 1 and we have made progress but there is a long way to go. The ropes are set, the boots are tied, and we have got our sights on the hill and we are climbing. There is a really nice line up. I am super excited Bhoot Police is finally, 80% complete and it’s a dream role for me. We really had a good time doing that,” he told Bollywood Hungama in an interview.

“It is a nice place to be. It has not been particularly easy. The work has been fab, a lot of people have been super supportive and it’s nice. Because it is the only thing that has gotten me out of that feeling. Just by working hard and choosing the right scripts. People have also supported me by offering me those parts,” he added.

Saif shot for Bhoot Police with Arjun Kapoor in Himachal Pradesh in the latter half of 2020. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Jacqueline Fernandez. His Amazon web series Tandav is also ready for release. The show features Sunil Grover, Dimple Kapadia, Sarah Jane Dias and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as his co-stars. It will arrive on January 15.

Gauahar Khan on turning down web offers: I won’t do bold scenes for the heck of it or just to be a part of the show

Much like others hailing the OTT boom, Gauahar Khan also has nice things to say about how the web has been “creating more work opportunities for creative minds”.

The actor dove into the digital space in 2019 with the web series The Office that garnered positive response. While she will be seen in the web series Tandav next, the actor hasn’t been taking up much work on the space. The reason being most of the offers she got required her to do bold scenes on screen.

“And I am clear that I won’t do such scenes for the heck of it. My job as an actor is to deliver and do justice to the character I am portraying. But yes, I do have my lines drawn, especially when it comes to the kind of content I want to associate with. I’ll not be crossing the line just for the need of wanting to be a part of the show,” she emphasises.

Shedding light on the kind of roles she was offered in the last one and a half years and why she turned them down, Khan says she somehow couldn’t connect with them instantly.

“All those roles that came to me, I felt they weren’t something which I could deliver to with all my heart. So, I had to say no to them, irrespective of how big the project was. As an artiste, I know I am supposed to deliver to the audience with complete conviction, but then there are certain things like being explicit or too bold on screen, which I am not at all comfortable doing. Hence, I have made my choice accordingly,” maintains Khan.

The actor, who has been a part of films such as Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009), Game (2011) and Ishaqzaade (2012) and Begum Jaan (2017), further adds, “I believe there are ways to aesthetically show things, and that’s all I can do as an actor.”

However, she is not completely shunning the idea of working on the web. “There’s a lot more than just bold stuff that happens on the web and I am keen on exploring that. And I am more than ready to wait until a good role comes my way,” Khan concludes.
