When a popular paparazzi Instagram account shared a video of Aamir playing cricket in a field, a few, including actor Kishwer Merchantt, called him out for not wearing a mask.

Aamir was seen taking on a few balls before he picked up his belongings from the ground, including his mask. He then posed for a selfie with almost two dozen children. Reacting to the video, Kishwer commented, “None of them wearing a mask ? How ? Why ?”Some Instagram users supported her reaction and wrote, “Because none of them afraid from death.”

A few, however, also defended Aamir. “People need to breathe while playing a sport ..isnt that common sense,” wrote one. “If they wear a mask while playing they are going to suffer from shortness of breath. And anyways while playing they are quite far away from each other,” wrote another.

The actor will soon be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, a remake of Hollywood film, Forrest Gump. Aamir plays a man who travels through various important moments from the history of India while simply living his life. Kareena Kapoor stars opposite him. The film is scheduled to release later this year.

Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra pay tribute to ‘legendary’ Irrfan Khan on his birth anniversary, see their messages

Actors Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra were among the many Bollywood celebrities who remembered late actor Irrfan Khan on his birth anniversary on Thursday. Irrfan died in April 2020, after a two year battle with cancer.

On Instagram Stories, Anushka shared a picture of Irrfan and wrote, “A legendary figure of the industry. You will always be missed and your legacy will live on forever.” Priyanka shared a similar post, and wrote, “Remembering an incredible legacy. Irrfan.”

Earlier in the day, Irrfan’s son, Babil, shared a video of his father in his memory. He wrote in the caption, “You never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations. Perhaps, that is why I don’t remember anyone’s birthdays because you never remembered mine and never encouraged me to remember yours. It was just normal to us what seemed absurd from the outside, we celebrated everyday (bringing personal experiential authenticity to the cliche). On the occasion, Mamma would have to remind us both; but this time I could not forget yours if I tried. It’s your birthday Baba. Shoutout to all the technologically inept parents, notice that they did not finish saying that they miss me.”

Irrfan’s friend, actor Chandan Roy Sanyal, told The Times of India, “I felt he was all set to break into the big league when he was gone and it made me really sad. More than anything I’ll miss what he’d have done had he not been taken away. Irrfan Khan was more than an actor; he was a seeker.”

Irrfan’s last release was Angrezi Medium, which released in March. His film, Song of the Scorpions will get a posthumous release soon.

Happy birthday Bipasha Basu: How the actor met, fell in love and married Karan Singh Grover

A look at actor Bipasha Basu’s Instagram page shows just how happy she is in her marriage. Karan Singh Grover and her ‘monkey love’ is evidently displayed. While she may not be doing too many movies, her story and happily married life is always a talking point. On her 42nd birthday, a look at their love story and how they got married.

In 2016, when Bipasha and Karan got married, the happiness on her face was evident. She had been in a rather public and nearly a 10 year old relationship with John Abraham which ended in separation. When they broke off in 2011, it was reportedly not an easy one, at least, from what Bipasha has said in the past. One of points of contention had been the issue of marriage – she had wanted to settle down, John reportedly wasn’t keen on marriage.

So when Karan came into her life, she did have apprehensions about getting into a relationship. Karan too carried a baggage of two marriages, which had ended in divorces. However, some things are just meant to be. The two met during the making of their film, Alone and kept meeting even after the shoot was done.

iDiva had quoted Bipasha as saying: “Our relationship’s key fundamental foundation is friendship. It’s selfless and loving.” During the period they were dating, while they indulged in PDA, they never really confirmed anything before they actually got married.

One of cutest anecdote in their story is a way he surprised her with the proposal. They were in Koh Samui to celebrate the New Year. Bipasha said she didn’t believe she would get married till Karan proposed to her. “Well, I believed in marriage, but I never thought I would get married. So when he proposed, my first reaction was… ‘what are you telling me?’” Adding to this, Karan had said: “Let me complete the story for you. We were in Koh Samui, it was December 31 and the sky was lit with fireworks. I was carrying the ring with me and something told me that this is the right time. So while she was capturing the fireworks on video, I took the opportunity and gave her the ring.”

But around the time they were dating, the one person who was not too keen on Karan was Bipasha’s mother. Clearly, his twice divorced status hardly made him a son-in-law material as far as Bipasha’s mom was concerned. Not just that speculation in the media too wasn’t exactly friendly. “It didn’t bother me and we spoke about it. I believe that everyone has a journey, and it is very easy for anyone to exclaim, ‘Oh…this is his third marriage, nahin chalega… divorce ho jaayega” Bipasha had said. They nonetheless managed to convince all that theirs was a rock-solid relationship.

Bipasha genuinely believes love and respect is what binds them. “I feel I am lucky, as I live only for love. And no man has given me more love and respect than Karan.”

Saif Ali Khan says failure of his films was like ‘mini death in the family’, convinced him to stop chasing ‘box office success’

Actor Saif Ali Khan has said that after a string of commercially disappointing films, he made the decision to chase ‘quality of work’ instead of chasing ‘box office success’. Saif will next be seen in the Amazon Prime Video series Tandav.

He said that the commercial failure of films such as Kaalakaandi, Laal Kaptaan and Chef was like a mini death in the family. Combined, the three films made less than Rs 20 crore at the box office.

“I worked so hard on Laal Kaptaan,” Saif told Bollywood Hungama. “Every film has become a baby of ours. And Laal Kaptaan was crazy, because there was so much makeup time, and we travelled and we did things that you can’t do, unless you love film. Also that acting experience of playing a Naga sadhu, with five kilos of hair and makeup, it changes you. And even if the film doesn’t run, very sad, like a mini death in the family… We move on after a while.”

But there was a silver lining to the experience, Saif said. It prepared him for his role in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, in which he once again had to ride horses and use swords. “Kaalakaandi doesn’t run, but you come across so many actors in the digital space, different kinds of actors you wouldn’t have met,” he said. “Chef might not have run, but maybe I’ll learn what not to do.”

Saif had a change of fortune at the box office with the blockbuster success of Tanhaji, paired with his starring role in the hit series Sacred Games. He followed it up with Jawaani Jaaneman, and has a slate of populist films lined up. The actor will be seen in Bhoot Police, Bunty Aur Babli 2 and the mythological epic Adipurush.

Television is not a dead medium: Rithvik Dhanjani

In times when Bollywood and television actors are moving towards the emerging digital space, actor and anchor Rithvik Dhanjani feels that TV has not lost its charm.

“I agree, in recent times, a lot of actors are raving about web series because digital medium has opened so many possibilities of storytelling. Yet, while people might feel so, television is not a dead medium. In fact, on the contrary, TV still reaches to the maximum number of people in the nation, even in the remotest of areas, where people don’t have smart phones. I don’t think films or webseries have that kind of reach yet,” says Dhanjani, who is currently shooting for a web series. The Pavitra Rishta actor had gained popularity with his debut TV show and hasn’t been a part of a daily drama on television for quite some time now.

Talking about the kind of work, he’d want to do on television, he shares, “Once stories which are in tandem with the way our society functions in real time and shows depict more real and relatable characters, then why not? As actors, want to be a part of script, show or film only because we love the story that’s being told. I think, change is inevitable. The way stories are being told on television will eventually change; and they are already changing. Makers are catching up with various storytelling tools and we’re already seeing a gradual shift in the way the daily soaps are made now. Television is fast adapting & once we have more interesting & path breaking stories, you’ll see bigger names moving back to television.”

Dhoom 3 actor Siddharth Nigam: I didn’t want to be stuck with child actor image

While Siddharth Nigam as young Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 (2013) grabbed audience’s attention, the gymnast-turned-actor didn’t do any other film, apart from a small appearance in Munna Michael that too four years later. He even turned down the opportunity to play Varun Dhawan’s younger version in Judwaa 2 (2017). Nigam reasons that he never wanted to “be a child actor in films”, and so shifted focus to TV instead.

“Munna Michael was a small part that I did for Jackie Shroff (actor) and Sabbir Khan (director). Once people form an image of you as a child actor, it becomes difficult to play leading roles in movies when you grow up. Phir log yahin bolenge, ‘Arrey yeh to wahi child actor hai’, it leaves behind an impression which just doesn’t leave you,” he explains, adding that not many child actors have succeeded in this profession after growing up.

Having turned 20 last year, Nigam is now ready to take the plunge in films and web series, and he clears that he’d only prefer pivotal or parallel lead roles.

However, he admits, “I’m outsider, have no godfather or connection in this industry. My past work always got me opportunities. I know having done TV doesn’t work in your favour when you try in films, so my road to Bollywood won’t be easy. But I do dream of getting a good launch. I know star kids would get priority but having done some work in the industry over the last few years, I know I can prove myself. I’m even open to being launched on the web.”

Known for TV shows Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Chandra Nandini and Aladdin—Naam Toh Suna Hoga, the actor is also keen on doing action and mythological films and wishes to collaborate with directors SS Rajamouli and Rohit Shetty.

Not paying much heed to the nepotism and favouritism debates in Bollywood, Nigam only hopes that it brings about positive changes, “It’s better to continue working hard and keep trying,” he ends.
