Sonam Kapoor gets emotional on two years of Pad Man: It’s been a truly humbling experience
Sonam Kapoor took to social media to share a video on two years of Pad Man. The actress said that it was a humbling experience to play the role of Pari in the film
Sonam Kapoor and Akshay Kumar-starrer Padman completes two years today. The actress took to social media to share her feelings on being part of the film on a social issue. Directed by R Balki, Padman is a film based on the life of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham.
Sharing a short video made from stills from Pad Man, Sonam Kapoor wrote, “Creating a movie around social issues has always had its challenges. But as Padman completes 2 years, its been a truly humbling experience for me to play the part of Pari.”
Thanking her director and co-stars, she wrote, “Balki sir, it was a privilege to work with a leader such as yourself along with @akshaykumar and @radhika_apte! You are and always will be an inspiration to me!”
The actress also included Arunachalam in her tweet and wrote, “Last but not the least, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Arunachalam Muruganantham, whose selfless perseverance for the safety of women in our country was simply extraordinary and I’m honoured that you trusted us to tell your story to the world (sic).”
Sonam’s father Anil Kapoor also took to social media to share a an old video of himself with Rajkummar Rao. The video was earlier released two years ago at the time of the release of Pad Man.
In the video, Anil Kapoor is seen as a shop owner, while Rajkummar is a customer who has come to buy a sanitary pad.
Sharing the video, Anil Kapoor wrote, “2 years of #Padman. The impact this story made worldwide was impeccable and well deserved! So glad to have played a small part in our own small way to contribute towards spreading awareness!”
