Liverpool transfer round-up: Reds eye Sevilla defender, No Brewster loan

[ad_1]

So far, it’s been a relatively quiet transfer window for Liverpool, as they prepare to defend
the Premier League title for the first time.

The Reds have completed just one deal so far this summer – with Kostas Tsimikas arriving
at Anfield from Greek side Olympiacos.

However, there are rumours flying about that suggest Jurgen Klopp is set to bring some new
faces to Merseyside this summer.

With that being said, here is a round-up of the very latest Liverpool-related transfer rumours
from around Europe.

Thiago has been heavily linked with Liverpool

Thiago prefers Liverpool move over United

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago would prefer a move to Liverpool rather than Manchester
United, according to German publication Bild.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old this summer, as he
prepares to enter the final season of his current deal at the newly-crowned Champions
League winners.

United have supposedly been in contact with Thiago over a move, but the Spanish
midfielder would prefer a switch to Anfield.

Klopp seems to be the main driving force behind Thiago’s thinking, with Liverpool having
more to offer as it stands.

Diego Carlos has been a star for Sevilla

Reds consider move for Sevilla defender

Liverpool are considering a move for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos this summer,
according to a report in Marca, via Sport Witness.

As well as the Reds, Manchester City and Manchester United are also interested in the
Brazilian defender, who impressed for Sevilla last season.

City are the side that have been the most frequently linked with Carlos, with Sevilla
reportedly preparing for a bid from the Etihad club.

As it stands, Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip as their recognised
first-team defensive options, following Dejan Lovren’s departure to Russia.

Georginio Wijnaldum could be on the move

Barca prepare Wijnaldum bid

Barcelona are preparing a bid for Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, according to a report
in the Daily Telegraph.

Former Holland boss Ronald Koeman has just been appointed as Barca’s new manager,
and he is keen to bring Wijnaldum to the Nou Camp having worked with him at the
Netherlands.

The Dutch midfielder has a year remaining on his current deal with the Reds and has made
it clear that he would favour staying at Anfield.

However, the 29-year-old’s contract situation is still in the air, and Liverpool may be
expecting a bid in the coming days.

Brewster loan to be blocked

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may put the block on Rhian Brewster being loaned elsewhere
for the first half of the season, according to Football Insider.

Brewster spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Swansea City
and caught the eye of many with his goalscoring talents.

First-team football may be limited for the 20-year-old, with the likes of Roberto Firmino and
Divock Origi ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, the report states that Klopp has now made up his mind, and he will not consider
letting Brewster leave the club on loan in the summer transfer window.
